would god of war 3 be a mindless button smasher like the first 2?

Who said God of War was a button masher? From Gamespots God of War 2 review.

"It's prone to button mashing and can be easygoing.... Granted, that's only on the bottom two difficulty levels, and you'll more than likely find yourself in grave shape if you try that technique on the higher levels."

True. GoW is a great button masher, not a "mindless" button masher. I like button mashing games, it may sound silly on paper, but when you actually play it, its really fun. Its like you are taking anger management on the controller :P

I doubt it, but in NG all you needed was a few key moves to kill EVERY enemy. At least in GOW it's fighting is more brutal and badass.

Ninja Gaiden also happens to be one of the hardest games ever created. That is why it doesn't sell. People I've talked to say they have considered Ninja Gaiden vs. God of War and they usually choose GoW. While I agree the gameplay is far superior in NG, GoW is just more FUN to your average gamer.

NG2 DMC4 GOD3

you guys are all naive they all have the same thing in common you'll figure out about 2-3 powerful combos and you'll be using them for the entire game they are all button smashers.

Yeah sure, try button mashing God or Titan and then come back. You wouldnt get past the Hydra, the Colossus or the Basilisk. Which are the first boss in each of the 3 titles. The 2 first difficulties are a piece of cake, no troubles there, you can just do square square triangle and beat everyone. Kind of like playing NG or DMC in the first difficulties. God and Titan are leages away from that. Specially Titan which forces you to learn moves patterns and do precise dodges and counters to be able to beat whatever comes in your way.

But that said, GoW is a different game. While NG and DMC focus on flashy and cool moves, GoW, focuses on power moves, moves that feel heavier and stronger and sides that with a really strong story, unlike the other 2.

You deffinitively havent played one of them. DMC was more like an action RE game, you had to aim your gun first to be able to shoot as if it was RE and the combat, though fluid pales in comparisson to DMC4 combat system. Though DMC4 falls in terms of level design and game lenght (since its only 13 different levels, 6 of them are repeated ) the combat system was evolved. Nero, though simple, has more depth than expected if you learn to do his best combos using the Max Act skill. Dante now has an evolved version of DMC3 combat system which was the best the series had in terms of gameplay.

DMC and DMC4 are on totally different frequencies. At core they are the same, demonic dude with a gun and a sword busting demons, but at gameplay they differ

After seeing how successful the first two were, I think the same gameplay mechanics will apply to God of War 3. If the gameplay is fine the way it is for the first two then I don't see any reasons for them to change it now.

Anybody that calls GOW a button masher simply sucks at action games and/or never took time to learn the combos and how to link them together.

Plain and simple.

GOW is a button masher, I don't know why people can't accept it.
