Multi games on both the Wii and PS3 fail to sell for some reason yet on 360 they seem to thrive....Seems like 360 is somewhat keeping gaming alive!!

Anyone else Agree???

Devs prefer to make games on 360 because its easier and takes less time thus costing less. But otherwise, no. No one console this gen is keeping the industry alive.

Virtually every trackable multiplat that has appeared for all 3 systems sold better on the Wii, what are you talking about? On top of this, if the 360 didn't exist all that would happen is more sales for Sony and Nintendo, more so Sony. Again, where are you going with this.

The Install bases of the Wii and PS3 would be higher, that's about it. I suppose it would be a benefit for PS3, being the only HD option.

Seeing how the PS2 and Gamecube were doing well I don't think the 360 would be destoried. Honestly if the 360 didn't exsit then the Wii would have a lot of 3rd party support right now and then some PS3s would have been bought and nothing would change except all 360 exclusives would have been PS3 and probably Wii.

But that's not the case and the 360 is still here so.....yeah...

Yes, it has maintained good sales throughout, and sustained many people over the long gap of PS3's failure and the rise and fall of the Wii. But most multiplatform games are better on 360, most exclusives 'look' better on ps3, but there are way more multiplats than ps3 exclusives. Also, games NOT on ps3, but are on 360/pc rule.

Nope. XBOX360 isn't a requirement at all. It's just that console in the corner that leeches off the successful consoles. An doesn't really offer much in the way of exclusives just multiplats. The most un needed console of this gen. The games industry would be fine without it and probably even better for the developers not having to make multiplats all the time and be less lazy.

I recall the gaming industry being quite fine before Microsoft entered the picture. Sure, things would be a little different; but I doubt the industry would be crumbling.

Well. developing games for PS3 is difficult on the developer's side because of it's complex architecture. I said yes because it's easy to develop on the Xbox 360 :)

I dont agree in that same sense but I think MS push for online has helped the industry a lot more than people give credit, both financially and technologically. They didnt pioneer things like DD and high def streaming but when a big company backs such models they advance a lot faster than they would if they hadn't. Online gaming would be crap on consoles atm if MS never entered the game.

Not at all, however, Online Console Gaming wouldn't be as good as it is now and Western Titles wouldn't be as popular on consoles (Which could be good or bad depending on how you feel about them).

Well without the 360 the PS3 would probably still be expensive, but without the PS3, gaming would be on a downward slope.

Not really, but the competition has been nothing but good for gamers.

What condition would PSN be if it wasn't competing with Xbox live for example?

And one console dominating isn't good for publishers and developers. How many great games got lost on the PS1 and 2 because of how saturated their market was. There is such a thing as too many games. This leads to losses of good small developers. Plus competition keeps royalties down and deals up for developers and publishers. Devs and Publishers would rather release their games over multiple systems than one.

No competition leads to a 'my way or the highway' attitude from a company, which is good for no one. How many times has Sony or Nintendo (when they were in that position) been able to say 'well if you don't want to do that or pay this'.

The popularity of the 360 has been a great thing for gaming this gen. The fact that Playstation has to fight neck and neck is great for gaming.

Right now, you're seeing a Sony who has lost its arrogance which is great for PS fans and 360 fans. PS fans get more attention and better and better deals from Sony (in terms of content, games and quality and whatnot) and 360 fans get more because MS are constantly on their toes.

besides being easier to develop for, all it really had and needed was being released 1 year ahead. most devs then began to work with it and by the time ps3 came out, just decided to port basically every game. but without the 360,i believe "DLC" wouldn't be so horrible like it is now.

The market wouldn`t crumble but there would be fewer big-budget games and the industry would rely on established franchises more.

It wouldn't crumble, but this generation would certainly be worse, whatever console you would own. Without the 360, there will be no competition for sony in terms of giving consumers the powerful games, and therefore they wouldnt need to compete by getting more exclusives etc. Instead they would go for their only competitor Nintendo which would mean they would be targeting the casual market. Also you must take into account online would be a lot worse and the PS3 may still be a very high price. The industry wouldnt fail and sales for both consoles would go up, but at the same time the quality would decrease with less competition. For all we know by now in some parrelel universe PS3 released their wand a year ago and just released "PS3Fit"...

well the 360 can do both muilti plat games from either wii or ps3. it costs to much to port a wii type game to ps3 and wii cant handle ports from ps3. the tc is right. 360 is holding this whole gen up if you think about it. also do you think sony or nintendo would have went online if they didnt see how well it worked for ms last gen? nothing this gen would be the same if it wasnt for ms. dont be fooled....

sort of actually. with the xbox brand gaining popularity, it gave a reason for sony not to be lacking with the ps3. it's evident that they weren't putting in much effort into the ps3 at the start, confident that the popularity of the ps brand will save them from lacksture effort. it backfired, and the xbox 360 took it by storm. thanks to it, it is now safe to say that the ps3 is the BEST console to own in this gen.

Look at multiplatform games compared to PS3 only games. Which has the better graphics? Developers like EA simply dont want to take the time to learn the insides of the PS3 because they are worried about qauntity over quality. Look at UF2 and GT5, Last Gaurdian. Those are the better developers that are obviously smarter than your run of the mill EA, 2K, Ubisoft, and any other non exclusive PS3 developer. The PS3 would not fall without the 360. If there was one console, dont you think it would sell more? People will still want to game.
