Same here. Check your event logs to see if something's causing it to error.

it really does piss me off sometimes. i had one hell of a time just trying to get it running yesterday. had to reinstall it. and i hate that you cant play anything if your not connected to the internet. last week my internet was out, but i wanted to play portal, well, too bad for me, i couldnt. i really like the service, and think its a great idea. but there are times when its too much. like i said, without internet, i cant access the games that i paid for and want to play.

Good point. When I had Comcast, our internet sucked and went out too fricking much. Now that I've got a local cable service (RCN for you New Englanders), I haven't had any problems.

EDIT: Sorry, I went a little off-topicabout this, since it's more about my connection and not Steam.

Sorry, but I think it is your connection, not Steam. I never have connection issues with Steam.

There is an offline mode on steam. You are not required to be online to play, unless its multiplayer.

Every game should come out on Steam. For some reason I'm more prone to buying a game when it's released on Steam than retail or another download service.

If youre having problems get spybot search and destroy or NOD32, that should resolve your issues

Nothing to see here, just a 360 fanboy who is on a vendetta against the PC.

The one who claimed the PC couldn't do HD or 480p.

Instead of steam you should have put Battle.net, you would have had something.

Mine crashes from time to time but not often enough to complain about. The biggest problem I have is games seem to disappear from my games list and the only way to get them back is to restart steam (I guess not techically a crash)

Steam has a split fanbase.

People with decent PCs and crappy PCS get bullcrap on Steam 99.9 of the time, but those with good PCs seem to have no trouble.

Probably because they generally know more about PCs and can make it work somehow. I remember having it. It doesn't work on my PC anymore, but it was OK. I liked just clicking the button and then getting a patch, but it also sucked.
