[QUOTE="Koalakommander"]If Sony drops out we lose alot of great upcoming titles.shoeman12
mgs4, r&c, kz2, ff13 and drakes fortune? those 5 titles cows are hyping would just be ported to the 360.
There are being made specifically on and for PS3 archictecture. If the PS3 left the console race, these projects would litterally have to restart themselves if the companies were willing to do that. It would be 2012 by the time we see MGS4 and FF13. And by than MS will have released 2 more consoles.

you think it would take four years to port over a game? at most it would take a year to a year and a half and i wouldn't be surprised if konami is already working on a 360 version.

Too bad Sony isn't dropping out then..
Not at all. I've had enough of their disgusting arrogance and putting useless features into consoles.dracula_16
Harsh. Did Sony sleep with your wife or something?
You don't have to buy their products.
I don't really care if they left after this generation, 90% of the games I want for the PS3 are made by Third Party developers(MGS4, FFXIII), the rest I can live without.
If Microsoft were to leave the console biz, whatever I still have a PC and odds are they would make all their first party games for windows.
If Nintendo were to leave, they stated that they wouldn't go third party. I don't really want to miss out on the next Zelda, kinda why I keep buying their consoles.
Apple would be a good replacement. System price would be highDougFuNNy618Great next you know they'll invent the I-station:lol:

No, because I'm not currently married or in a relationship.
I couldn't care less. I'm loyal to good games, not Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo. I'm not even loyal to developers. Why should I be?weisguy119
wth ignorant statement ftl. you couldn't care less if COMPETITION drops out? Competition breeds better games. If you're loyal to good games then you will care because if there is no compition then whats the point of making good games? exactly.
Anyone that says that they want a platform (Playstation, 360, Wii) to leave the market are complete morons.ChrisMunWhen a console is BAD for the market, like lets say the PS3, then i'd have no qualms about it "leaving". Are people so blind to see what the PS3, and to a lesser extent the 360, are doing to videogames? $500 consoles?!? WTF? $60 games as the norm? Even for not so great games? WTF? Games taking twice as long to develop? Games costing twice as much to produce? How is ANY of this good? Not to mention the difficulty involved.. Even if the PS3 left those goes would most likely end up somewhere..

How is the 360 to a "lesser extent"!? They make you pay for megabytes of "extra" content, and $50 a year for something completely overrated.
$399 Blu-ray player alone is a good deal. The games are coming. What the hell do you people want?
If the PS3 dropped out you might as well say goodbye to 4-5 of the biggest franchises in gaming until 2012.
The only way it would affect me would be that Sony exclusive games will probably end up on systems that I own.
So...no, I'd be quite happy if Sony left the console race.

I don't understand anyone here.

The industry won't die if Sony drops out of the console race. Atari created the console market. Where are they now? Sega dominated, at one point. Again, where are they? There will always be competition in the industry. I just don't care whose name is on the game/console.

Your getting ahead of yourself,if you think $500 is bad it'd be worse with no completion, and video game development has nothing to do with the console itself as software and 3rd party companies would complete anyways for the better title. In fact you would see less good titles with no completion has MS wouldn't need a halo or a mass effect anymore and wouldn't even bother funding them, they already won,why try and make good games anymore.

ok then who will enter the console race if sony leaves? humm?

How am I supposed to know? I don't have a crystal ball. You could've asked the same question about Atari and Sega. Nintendo replaced Atari and revived the industry. Sony killed Sega. Trust me, it wouldn't be the end of good games if Sony dropped out.
The thing is I can't see Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, Syphon Filter, Silent Hill, Killzone, not being as good or better on the Xbox 360 or Wii in terms of quality.
MS too I guess but they have Halo, Gears, and Mass Effect.
I mean Manhunt 2 is going to be killer on the Wii, and Devil May Cry 4 will probably be just as good on the Xbox 360.
Will Dragon Quest 9 not be as good on DS as on the PS3? No it may be better coz of touch controls, Wi-Fi, and most of all what makes DQ games good is how well its designed.
Since when does it matter how much cooler a game's online team deathmatch is in light of how well the game is made and how much fun it is.
If the PS brand (however unlikely) did go away. I wouldn't shed a tear. I don't think Sony was nearly as graceful and good for gaming as the brand leader as Nintendo was before and how they are now.
I would never play a Zelda, Metroid, Mario game on any console that didn't have the word Nintendo on it.
It would be sacreligious. If Ninty went away (never will happen) I'd rather they take the games with them.
I can't say that about Sony. I'd be entirely comfortable playing their games on another console.
Sony won't drop out but given their financial losses across the board its more likely than ever that some big wig at Sony who doesn't care for gaming and just knows PS made him money for a decade might drop the axe in interest of making more money on their other products like MP3 players, TVs, Computers, Cell Phone, etc.
Probably won't happen.
I'd love to see a two horse race. Two different tastes and plenty of competition from both sides.
The thing I dislike about Sonys strategy now is their completely ignoring how Ninty is kicking their butt with the current Wii lineup.
MS at least makes games for the DS and has a fairly decent relationship with Nintendo. They know they'll never beat Ninty in terms of integrity and class.
Sony must stop looking at the PS2 generation and realize that as they lost the walkman to the iPod that they're losing gaming to Ninty again with a little help from MS.
I would only because out of all the consoles the P.S. brand gave us more bang for our buck variety wise. If the PS3 is forced to bow out i think i will get into P.C gaming. I like the xbox( i had a 360 but i sold it) just hate the hardware. The failure rate is ridiculous. I try not to read info on what system is selling what because I'm a gamer not an analysis. What do you jabronis think? Oh yea since i mentioned it earlier im buying a new laptop in a month anybody have any suggestions on a really good one for running games my budget is $2600.DougFuNNy618
i wouldn't care atm, but once they got a better system made i would and cheaper games! this gen is to expensive, whats is going to be next-gens price? 70 bucks!??! out ragous might as well as stick to pc gaming then because overall it'd be cheaper.
