When it comes to Video Games, one of the so called standards for many people is VA, funny thing in most games VA is simply awful and out of place, however there is a franchise that a lot of people would love to see with VA, The Legend of Zelda but if there is a franchise who i think would be really hard to put VA is this one, however, i'm not saying it shouldn't have.
First of all, Nintendo has a bad reputation with VA (Other M), also, many people have suggested that Link should remain silent...but NPCs don't play a huge roll in the games aside from Zelda...which in my opinion, should remain silent too, also Link's Sideckics should remain silent too, let's not forget Midna and even Fi, even if she is not that great of a character her "Voice" effect sounds right, so in other words, Zelda would only have VA when you talk to NPCs, now, would it be worth to have VA only with the guy that sells you the Shields? with that Fortune Teller lady? with that Guard in the Castle?
Now, why do i think that Princess Zelda should remain silent too? i don't know why but i feel it wouldn't sound right, after so many years, Zelda is also one of those characters that you learn to appreciate the way they are, Nintendo needs to find the perfect voice for such an important character...but let's face it, Nintendo would probably fail and i have to admit, i prefer no VA at all than a really bad one.
With that being said, i'm not saying it shouldn't have...i think there is room for VA in a Zelda game, i mean usually there are other important NPCs in the game, in WindWaker we had Link's Granma and Sister, in TP we had Link's friends and in SS we have the people in Skyloft.
The Villains, that's another tricky one, what kind of voice would you give to Ganondorf? well if Nintendo can't get James Earl Jones, Christopher Lee or Sean Connery then i would be extremely disappointed...again, i think it would be really hard to find a proper voice for Ganondorf, but for newer villains maybe it wouldn't be that bad.
Anyway, at the end of the day, how much the game would benefit from VA? would it make it a better experience overall? would it be worth to have VA, even if it is awful as long as Zelda "gets with the times"?
Personally, i think the games are fine the way they are after all, i play Zelda because of the Zelda experience, not because i want to hear them talk and for the people that claim that VA is important, well look at Dark Souls, a game with so very little VA that it never feels old or dated because, but i wouldn't be against VA as long as Link remains silent...Zelda? well i think it would be a mistake to have her talking but if Nintendo finds that perfect voice for her then it would be awesome.
What do you say guys?
