Well if this time they create a rielibale and high-quality system then yes. And im sure they will, they've learned from there mastakes and look @ the orginal xbox, it was one of the best built systems of all time.
yes i would
as great as the Xbox 360 is, having to check every time i get off the console to see how hot it is so i can sleep at night is stupid, i'm not saying they need to make a perfect console, just bring it down to the 3% of nintnedo or the 5% of sony
just to beat out nintendo and sony's next gen consoles with a 10million console headstart and a bigger library of games to start of with again. would you mind?GameRogue
It depends what you mean by that.
Obviously, if all systems update on there 5th anniversary, then Next MS will be out a year before the others automatically.
I think that is how they wanted it. I would like that.
Now I would NOT like them only being out for 4 years again. That is coming much too soon. And there is no need for it; I understand why they did it last time though.
So the question is, are Nintendo and SOny gonna release THEIR systems a year early to stop MS from having the lead again? (especially Sony, whom it hurt the most this gen.)

Agreed. MS's head start really hurt Sony, and Ninty's tech is aging the fastest. It will be very interesting to see what each does next generation.
It would be suicide to rush out another console well before Sony or Nintendo attempted on releasing theirs. All of a sudden you go from a 20 million install base to 0. What company wants to make games for a console with almost no install base?
If you wait for the other 2 to get close to releasing theirs then everyone is at 0 and it forces everyone to move on to next gen.
This is what people dont get, MS have established a lot and are not only keeping themselves happy but the devs too, and at this rate, things are only getting better. 2013? That's way too late. History dictates that 2010 is more likely for the 360 successor, with a date of 2011 as an outside figure.
that would be a terrible move. this gen is just getting started. So many people haven't even bought a next-gen console yet. Also, the 360 is still selling very well. Why move on so soon? There is no real reason.jack_russel
I agree. The original Xbox was a failure but this time, the 360 is actually doing well in terms of software. Releasing a new system a year later would not be a smart move at all.

2010 is FAR to early, for the 360 that would be almost 5 years and PS3 only around 4. But yes, Sony and MS are loosing a lot of money, they need to claw all that back hence their best interesnt is to support their current hardware as long as they can, that means 6 year lifespan MINIMUM. 360 for example has great software sales and cheapening hardware, by 2012, their fortunes with console should at least double (around 30-40 mil units sold) and so their software sales too.[QUOTE="jack_russel"]that would be a terrible move. this gen is just getting started. Failure in what sense? Sales? Software sales?Games wise the 360 is probably behind, but thats due to dry next-gen release calander, but regardless the XBOX was an amazing console, SW in 04 and early 05 gave it MUCH more respect. I truely had a great time with it, a poor mans PC and the best multiplat console out there. Not forgetting online gaming

5 years is the standard length of time for console life cycles. It's occasionally shortened by a year (XBOX) or lengthened by a year (PS2), but it almost always hovers right around 5 years.

But again, they had to jump ship with the XBOX, sales were down the toilet and they had to pounce on Sonys delay, and it has paid off immensely, but cost them with faulty hardwareAgain, MS are going to take this console the max, 6 years min, if not 7
