Would you mind playing a graphics king game on an SDTV and why?
Thanks.

Why would you hook a PC up to an SDTV when you could hook it up to an HD-capable monitor?jalexbrownI'm not talking about PC here,I'm talking about PS3 and Xbox 360.

I wouldn't care at all.
I have two TV's in my room. One has HDMI and one doesn't. It would take 10 minutes to switch them, so my console TV has HDMI, but I can't tell the difference.

sorry.... but if you can't tell the difference between SD and HD you need to be booking an appointment at the opticians.

No, it doesn't effect the gameplay.
Shirokishi_
Yep yep.
It doesn't but I spent a lot of time admiring the graphics in Uncharted, Mass Effect, KZ 2, GOW 3 demo, etc and it adds a lot to the experience. Without HDTV you can't fully appreciate the presentation and how much effort the devs put into the technical side of things. So I'm a graphics *****, screw SDTV.To say I would be completely unaffected is absurd. I like playing on my HDTV, I believe it enhances the experience. Even so, playing on a SDTV is better than not playing at all.

They dont ruin experiences. I would know, I played on one till last year.

Well I can't agree with those who say "graphics don't matter". PS2-level graphics in 2010 just wouldn't be good enough for me.

They don't "ruin" anything by any means- I played my 360 with a SDTV for quite some time yet still saw a big upgrade from PS2 graphics- and it was still enjoyable. But after upgrading to HD I couldn't go back. If I was forced to play God of War III/Gears 2 on an SDTV it simply wouldn't be the same, not by a long shot.
Doesn't bother me since I don't own an HDtv so I'm playing in an SDtv no matter what. The only problem is some games the developers don't optimize the text like Dead Rising and you need a magnifying glass to read the text when it is played on an SDtv.
It really depends on the game. If I have to do a lot of sniping and actions that require precision, probably not. But, the majority of games do not require such precision. I remember using the S-Video Out of my pc video card to output gameplay to a 34" SDTV. I mean the max res I was able to go with was 800x600 and it didn't look half bad although a bit on the flickery side. Consoles? That's a no brainer. I'm not too fuzzy. I still play GT4 (PS2) on that same old 34" SDTV in the family room.

So at first you're saying that "PS2-Level graphics in 2010 just wouldn't be good enough" and then you come back and say that "It was still a big upgrade from PS2 on SDTV",how does that even make sense? :?
Yes... because I want to experience everything a game has to offer, visuals are a part of the package... they are called "video" games for a reason.
So that would mean that text-based games, by your definition, aren't video games? The fact that they're called video games has nothing to do with what you see or how you see it; they're called video games because they output to some sort of video device.Yes... because I want to experience everything a game has to offer, visuals are a part of the package... they are called "video" games for a reason.

They were responses to two different people. Sure today's games in SD are an upgrade from PS2- that's what more RAM/better GPU does- HD just makes the upgrade that much better.
I rather not tbh. But I have no problem if there is no other way.

As someone who plays video games for the 'video' as well, I also enjoy the improvements made on that area and not just the gameplay part (not saying graphics>gameplay). I don't really feel like I should sacrifice neither.
I would mind it. It wouldn't stop me from playing it if that were the only option, but I would much prefer to play it on an HDTV if that is how it was meant to be played.
Im playing all my games at 1900x1200 resolution ( as you see im PC gamer ) but if game is awesome ( like GoW3 ) i wouldnt mind to play it in less res , even SDTV. Because resolution doesnt affecting graphics in a way ... Less res mean , bigger sprites but quality of textures and everything related will be the same. If you get me. So i wouldnt mind much to play a game like UC2 in low res that much.Would you mind playing a graphics king game on an SDTV and why?
Thanks.

Even text is seen visually.
Nice attempt at ownage though, better luck next time.
Wow. I'm shocked so many people have voted yes. You people seriously think playing on an SDTV is so terrible? You honestly think games these days dont look great on an SDTV? I pity you. You've forgotten what gaming is supposed to be about. In case you need reminding, it's about having fun! No, it's true. It's not about looking at super high resolution graphics and then arguing about which games have the best super duper amazing graphics on an internet forum.
So just because I would prefer playing on an HDTV automatically makes me the kind of gamer whom does nothing but freak out about graphics? Wrong, I'm never in the graphic ranting threads & have always believed gameplay is more important. So take your pity & shove it man.Wow. I'm shocked so many people have voted yes. one thing i recently realized is how much better a game looks when playin it from farther away. I played Crysis on a 1680 x 1050 monitor at 1280 x 800 at around 5-6 feet away and it looks nearly identical at that distance. Then I tried playing it @ 800 x 500 (pretty close to SD res) from around 10 feet away and it still didn't look that bad. So I guess it really depends on the distance.
I dont even....just....why does system wars fail so hard? I have UFC Undisputed. I play it on an SDTV. The game looks great, as does pretty much every current gen game I have. Graphics have gotten past the point of acceptability. There's virtually no such thing as a bad looking game on the current consoles whether you play on an SDTV or not.I just recently had the displeasure of playing UFC Undisputed on a SDTV, it looked worse than Tekken 5 (PS2 game mind you) on the same TV.
