Would you notice if cod4 or halo 3 wasnt in high def if nobody told you? I wouldnt notice a difference. I think anything 480p and up you cant tell the difference.

I dont know if its the resolution specificly which contributes but whenever i play my PS2 or my Wii on my HDTV there is a extremely noticable haziness/blurriness to the games. On the other hand there is nothing of the sort with my PC/PS3.. maybe i should try testing out my PC on my TV and run a game with a sub HD resolution to test it?
WTF ? Halo 3 looked like garbage even at the time of release. The lighting was decent but everything else was crap. It's true Halo 3 looked crap when it was released so yes I could believe it was sub hd however I'm stil shocked at how good Reach is looking.[QUOTE="siddhu33"]
Hell No!
But remember, they were 2007 games, and yet they still look good for their time.

I'd notice it very easily.[QUOTE="slipknot0129"]

Come on Anshul, your rig is spoiling you! If I had a 5850, I too would say that every game is basically crap!
Most TVs' native resolution is either 768p or 1080p, which means that almost any game is upscaled (since they are 720p or less native). Upscaling blurs the image, but the effect is only visible within certain distance. Crispiest images are seen at native resolution, so even HD games don't look stellar, in terms of sharpness at least. As for +/- 100 lines - move a foot away/closer and you will stop/start seeing difference ...
playing halo 3 in hd for the last 2 years I still can't tell what it is about the graphics thats sucks so bad and is obviously in sub-hd. Except the character face models it still looks great today. and because the graphics aren't OMGWTF^^ great it runs ALOT smoother online then most other games. I can play halo 3 on a wifi laptop connection and still get zero lag. I can't say that for any other game. I'll take increased performance over 'cutting edge' graphics any day.
Cows were always like HALO 3 isnt even HD! Your last gen game sucks. I always thought it looked pretty snappy and sharp. And Cod, for its time had some crazy graphics
Anyone claiming they would know is lying plain and simple. HALO3 and COD4 look NO different then any of the other games released at the time. AND better than most as most people claimed they did. Why say things just to be hateful or different? I dont get it?? 99% of the population didnt know one way or the other so please, stop acting like the games were barely better than PS1 games.

Don't call me a liar simply because you haven't seen games running in true HD on large screens. If you had the above comment would never have been made.
Of course I would know the difference. If you can't tell the difference, you might just have a visual impairment.Would you notice if cod4 or halo 3 wasnt in high def if nobody told you? I wouldnt notice a difference. I think anything 480p and up you cant tell the difference.

TBH, I probably wouldn't care either way. I've played Halo 3 and thought it looked good when I played it (2007). I didn't think much of COD4 when I played it, but I do not really care about high def since I play on an SDTV.

You sure about that dude? I have a 110" HD projector and play BR on it so I know HD. PLUS I have a PC and have seen the all mighty Crysis running at full spec. SO I do know HD. There isnt a huge enough difference to notice and thats my final word on it. You can tell Xbox,PS2 games no doubt, but anything this gen is hard to tell.
It would be extremely hard but it is posible for a hermit like me that still has a CRT monitor, and usually don't have powerful GPU's so I have to constantly play with the settings and resolution of games, and practically got a trained eye for this kind of thing. For the average joe on a LCD display or similar with native resolution it would be easy since these displays are usually HD or FHD. If its on a console it would be harder because of scalling. AA and AF can also complicate the most common ways to easily notice it.
In the end of the day it is just one of those things that a few trained eyes will enjoy and appreciate. For the rest it is as if it doesn't exist, even when it's real, so no big deal.
Completely.
They look rubbish on large TV's. PC spoils us :P.

I play on 58" Panasonic Plasma, and the games look far from "rubbish". The "rubbish" and "garbage" hyperbolehas really gotten old
