As much as I love Galaxy, it would be so incredible to see Super Mario 64 2 and have it be that exact title. Going back to the exact castle from the original, almost completely unchanged, but with new paintings. Having it have a similar look and feel, having the levels be more open like they were in the original, and basically being a complete rehash of the first one with new levels. I would freaking love the crap out of that. Don't get me wrong; Super Mario Galaxy 2 is probably my most anticipated title (that or Zelda Wii), but damn, I would kill for this.

I also demand a Banjo Kazooie 3 (REAL ONE) with minimal changes to the formula. Don't make it so evident the gap was 9 years... Have it improve over the originals, but don't add unnecesarry crap or change it up so much! Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy, while similar, did feel a lot different from 64.

Sunshine is the hardest 3d Mario game and because of that it was a big turn off to many people.

The only reason I didn't think Luigi's Mansion sucked as much as it did is because I played it when I was very young. And if I had the choice, I'd much rather have a sequel to 64 or Galaxy than freaking Sunshine. It was good, but it did not compare to Mario's other platformers.

I'd rather have a sunshine and luigis mansion sequal then any game currently coming out (sunshine more so). That game is so despised almost everywhere that its sickening.

Then again, they do seem like one off games, too unique to have sequals. But i would love the mentality behind those games to be applied to a sequal.

I really do not want a rehash of either to be quite honest. Also I liked Super Mario Galaxy more. I hope that Super Mario Galaxy 2 expands upon the formula in major ways...I don't want to see the sequel to one of the best games this gen end up being a complete rehash.

hardest? I don't think that's really saying much considering neither SM 64 or SMG were hard either. Quite frankly Sunshine was an easy game in general as well.

It may be me? I had to memory cards go on me well trying to get every star. There were parts SM Sunshine that were a pain in the neck more so the the others.

I enjoyed Super Mario 64 more than I enjoyed Super Mario Galaxy, but I'd rather have a Super Mario Galaxy 2. Super Mario Galaxy's only real problem for me was the complete lack of difficulty. Everything else was golden. If they could just find a way to add a little bit of challenge into the main game to match the ridiculously creative level design and the epic music and great gameplay mechanics, it would be the best thing ever.

Mario Galaxy was Mario 64 2. Mario Galaxy 2 is Mario 64 3.Willy105

But if Super Mario Galaxy is is Super Mario 64 2, then that makes it Super Mario 128, so that means that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is actually Super Mario 128 2, which actually makes it Super Mario 256, so it's actually SUPER MARIO 64 x 4.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 because in the original there was more variety and it can be expanded on and I can't wait to see what else is in store for the sequel.

I thought a strong point of the central Mario series was how it keeps evolving itself with each following title. Be it 64 to Sunshine to Galaxy. In that regard Galaxy 2 is a bit of a dissapointment.

Its not the first time Nintendo has done this. SMB2 (the real one) was pretty much super mario bros. 1 just with new levels.

I've said it before but what i want Nintendo to do with mario games is Have a central idea (space this gen). And within one gen, make three games based on that idea before moving onto a different theme next gen. I wanted it to happen with sunshine but sadly it didnt. I still remember playing SMG for the first time thinking "This cant be it, Nintendo has a gold mine here so they better not leave it at just this".

It was a tragedy leaving sunshine at one game but it would have been worse leaving galaxy. Anyway i actually think they will do this so expect a major new idea next gen (im thinking micro since hes gone as big as he can).

Thats a poor example. World to World 2 is probably the most drastic change/improvement seen in a sequal ever. I think he meant it in regards to how each mario game changes except galaxy 1 to 2.

Mario World 2 was called Mario World 2 just as a marketing gimmick. It's really just Yoshi's Island.

Oh true true, I was thinking of the US version of SMB2 in that regard. Makes sense but its nice to have an progressive element attached to the series.

Indeed. I mean, Super Mario 64 is still a classic, but sometimes the camera will force you to wrestle with it. SMG was just a beautiful experience, and its definately gonna be one of those games we're gonna look at years from now and say, "Yep, its still a classic".

True it's not a good example, but I think it relates a little. There might be some significant improvements to SMG2, given Ninty's track record.

SMG2, of course. I let go of nostalgia and played SM64 for the 50th time or so, and I found out that it doesn't quite hold up to SMG. It's still great and a masterpiece, but SMG improved on so many of my complaints. I will always have a place in my heart for SM64, but I must realize what's better now, and that would be SMG.

Super Mario 64 or Super Mario Galaxy? WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?!?! :P I kid I kid.

I would much prefer a new Yoshi game for the Wii... or Luigi's Mansion 2. Super Mario 64 was amazing but I don't think nostalgia would allow a sequel to live up to it. As for SMG, I didn't really enjoy it much (please don't kill me) so needless to say I'm not exactly hyped for the sequel.

Galaxy, no doubt (It has a new feeling). However, if we were to have a sequel to SM64, that played like Galaxy (So basically, instead of planets, you would have the mushroom kingdom), I would not mind.
