Would you still pay for PS+/XBL after a 51% price hike?

because Sony are raising the price of PS+ in select regions of the UK and Australia by more than 50%. US seems to be safe but for how long?

http://ie.ign.com/articles/2014/10/02/ps-plus-subscription-fees-rising-in-select-regions

But why do we even pay in the first place anyway? When we play a game online it cost nothing to Sony unless we are playing one of their first party games and even then, they mostly use P2P that cost virtually nothing.

Get a mid-range PC , 2 years later go High - end.

A 51% price hike is enough to convert me from cow to herm

To answer, I think I would drop off one of the services if that happened. I would simply stop subscribing to both and choose one.

To date for PS4:

$50 PS+ has offered 20 PS+ free games (goes beyond 2 games a month at times, this month releasing 4 new games, never repeats)

To date for Xbone:

$60 XBLG has offered 7 GwG free games (multiple months of releasing a single new game a month, repeats games month-to-month).

20 PS+ free games >>> 7 GwG free games

---

Then there is the bonuses to think of if you have other machines:

  1. PS3 (2-4 newer-older games a month),
  2. Vita (2-4 newer-older games a month).
  3. 360 (2 older games a month, one exception on the GwG Anniversary they offered a 3rd game).

I own them all.

If I had to cut off one or the other if there were price hikes, it is incredibly obvious to me which one I would cut based on the trend so far.

Link: "Sony is raising the cost of a PS Plus subscription in select regions including South Africa, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and India."

The areas are again: South Africa, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and India. They cited "market conditions".

It doesn't say UK or AU. "When we asked Sony whether the UK or EU should expect any changes, we were told "Customers will be notified of any price adjustments for their subscription services but there is nothing to announce at this time."

i didnt want to pay for online but thanks to lemmings....if i want to pay to play online with a console, then i would have to pay for it. its easy though, i would drop xb1 in a heartbeat. I bought live to play titanfall, and unless titanfall 2 is a much improved console exclusive and i still dont have a rig by then.i might think about paying for xbl.

lol I dont even pay for PS+ now

I can live without online play and ocasionally both Sony and MS open their servers for a weekend for me to play a little online once in a while. No big deal for me. Online play becomes boring after a while irregardless of the genre imo

Bloody lemmings are to blame.

But the term Cow becomes more and more appropriate with the 8th Gen of consoles for Sony devout supporters

Aw look at the tears.

You do have a choice - not paying. You're choosing to pay, therefore YOU are accepting it LOL.

And so are cows.

It goes to show that these companies have its consumers on the palm of their hands. Either you continue playing the only two consoles of "next-gen" or go to alternative methods of gaming.

Now this is more than likely exchange rates, so nothing to worry about.

@ghostwarrior786: You could also choose to just continue playing on the platforms that don't charge for online. Losing the Sony exclusives sucks, but I plan on going back and playing the ones with good single player when the console gets into the $100-$200 range.
