Welcome to the current gen and probably the future of gaming, where unfinished games is all we have.
Lazy, or pushed to meet a deadline? At least they're offering a hi-res textures pack, they didn't even have to do that.
You realize even though the game isn't shipping with them, we're still granted the opportunity to get them before release. I don't see a problem.
so rushed game confrimed?:P Did you see the development time? Even the console version was shipped without features.[QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"]

Can't quite explain it. Yeah I've been saying this since I first played the demo, the auto-attack actions look like someone is mashing a button, not like a real auto-attack, its incredibly awkward, yet so few people seem to see why its messed up. Anyways, I like how here is not a real button where it says 'click here', but I do I guess appreciate an option to at least get the high-res textures at all.[QUOTE="lawlessx"][QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"] Did you see the development time? I've really been upset with biowares recent outings, ME 2, while a solid game, was significantly stripped down to the very basics and I felt it left the game pretty bare in the end. Can we please stop trying to appeal to a larger audiences and make games that are willing to make more risks and contain more depth? lil_zelda_dude
"but if the game is fun and sells who cares?"
That is the response i got when i complained about mass effect 2 being dumb down for the masses:roll:
umm what? the demo had an excellent response from everyone i've talked to, and I personally loved it also. combat was smooth, the glimpse at the frame narrative structure of the story was interesting, and there was already witty banter and remarks in the opening sequences of the game.Doesn't matter since the demo sucked and no one is going to buy it.

All I've heard is how awful this game. How the game is bordering dynasty warriors. Awful graphics, awful animations, awful gameplay. Wait, that sounds like an awful game made by bioware.Doesn't matter since the demo sucked and no one is going to buy it.

I was bored 100% of the time, and couldn't stand the control setup, it just felt, awkward. And not to mention, it was just plain ugly.Doesn't matter since the demo sucked and no one is going to buy it.

Inconsistancy
People have nobody to blame except their peers. People buy unfinished products, poor products, overpriced DLC's, etc.
[QUOTE="haberman13"]Well, EA said that they don't even need to get 1 million subscribers to make a significant profit on ToR, so I doubt its as expensive as rumors seem to make it out.ToR - most expensive game ever
DA2 - funding ToR

1 million who buy the game and pay monthly is not a small number.

At launch as well lol. Within 1 year I forsee 2-4 million.
This is a simple, unarguable equation: Bioware + Star Wars + MMO + ME = ?
Solution: best game ever
Potential argument: Bioware has never made an MMO
Counter argument: but they have a ton of money and hired MMO devs from SW:Galaxies and WAR
Re-Counter argument: those games suck
Re-re-counter argument: but they picked choice talent, and are being directed by the masters themselves
How does this relate to DA2? EA wants numbers on the books, rushing out a graphically tweaked DLC for DA:O called DA2 and charging full price seems to be their answer.

I wish they could, but with million + development costs it doesn't seem like they can take the risk.

Remember, developers only want money, they don't care about how good or bad are they products.

Fallout 3 is a lot more complicated than Mass Effect 2. It has tons of items, number crunching, exploration, customization, ect.... Yet it sold tons more.

Compared to WoWs? Doesn't it have over 10 million if not much more subscribers? I'm pretty sure there's enough of the MMO community willing to try it that it could easily get that much. I mean, there were rumors that it was costing EA over 300 million dollars to make it. Those were shot down with the comments I was talking about.Well, I'm surprised that the texture pack doesn't come as $15 DLC. Serisouly though, nothing wrong with improving a game for free.nethernova
What I emphasized is the problem. People actually believe this stuff.
Oh, look, more whining and b****ing from the hermits... what a surprise. How come every single PC gamer here thinks they're always entitled to the best version of the game, free DLC, and top end graphics.
StealthMonkey4
A) that is false, we aren't entitled, but see B.
B) we feel something has to make up for the neutering of a product to fit on the consoles.
but hey guys, what about the Day One DLC and how the game was finished and stuff...?ShadowDeathXI don't know if you meant to do this, but man that's a crazy 3D effect on your sig between the white, blue, and red text. You have to look at it just the right way, but the blue text appears sunken in. Weird. Gave me a killer headache, though.
I don't understad how people can even look at this PoS when there are gems like The Witcher 2 lurking around the corner.

Most of those are from veteran developers in the MMO market, FFXI was the exception of a first time game slotting in the top 10 with SE. 1m is a pretty big number to aim for especially for launch. MMO's tend to grow in population unlike consol games that have a massive surge then drop-off.
"OK: Here is the story.
Auto-attack option for consoles was added in to the games late in the development cycle after the initial certification build was sent. The auto-attack functionality was sent to be added to the game for testing and approval. This was why staff said it was in game.
Due to an error during mastering, the auto-attack file was omitted during manufacture.
We apologize for this. It was meant to be in game, but it is not currently in the console versions. We are working on how best to distribute this to console users. When we have information, we will let everyone know."

I like how they waited until the game came out to announce these things. Because, you know, nobody thought to test the final copy of the game in the weeks leading up to shipping. :P
In other news, apparently the save import feature doesn't work well either - and this has supposedly been a known problem for a while.
Agreed. Posters here act as if what goes on at these studios is open knowledge. I doubt many devs want to ship a game that will get some flak for being unfinished. And looking at the quality body of work Bioware have, I believe they have integrity. But now they are owned by a big boy, and when he wants his money...........Lazy, or pushed to meet a deadline? At least they're offering a hi-res textures pack, they didn't even have to do that.
