I think its more addictive than any kind of drug

Really? What kinds of drugs have you been on to know that for sure? :Pejstrup
was about to ask the same question
Well at least you can't OD on it after only a single dose. It's actually funny you said that because I got bored of WoW in about a month like every other MMO I played.
I'm wondering how people can be addicted to boring games like WoW.
swazidoughman
I used to play it, and now I realise that its the most boring game I've ever play
so why I was playing? dont know, thats why I compare itwith a drug, you must stop playing it to realise your waisting your spare time
For some, but that's because they already had a problem before playing the game. WOW is no more guilty than any other game out there because it's only a severely addictive product if the player allows it to be. There were some people who were dangerously addicted to it, but that is not the game's fault or Blizzard's fault.

If you are addicted to WoW then that means your having fun with the game.

It actually doesn't though.
Yes it does... Its a game if your constaintly playing this game then your having fun. If your bored with the game then why are you playing it? Well the thing is that you weren't bored at all. Of coarse you will get bored with the game in about a month or 2 but if you find the game boring after 2 months then that means you enjoyed the game for 2 months and in no way can you call it boring.[QUOTE="treedoor"]

Simple, cause Ineedit to play PVP at a competitive lvl

Thats barly an excuse at all. I barly farm at all with my character. All I do is do lots of quests and instances with friends. Farming is only boring you yourself make it boring.I think whenit becomes an addiction to the point where you get fired, leave, your girlfriend, ignore friends and family you could consider it a drug (in the least literal sense of the word ever) Though this kid was on butloads of cola (i'm not sure if I can say the actuall drug but you can figure it out) so he could stay up for days and play. Also People have died from playing WOW in excess: dehydration and starvation mostly.

Trust me it's pretty hard to bring yourself to get up sometimes even when you're doing the lamest of things like grinding, or farming. You'll still lose sleep. I'm not really sure why, but that's just how the game works.
I luckily escaped 7 months ago, but still. Just because you play WoW constantly does not mean you are enjoying it. It's because the game is addictive. It's like saying people enjoy smoking because they smoke a lot. MMOs are addictive. That's why so many people are in a unanimous agreement about them being addictive.
Ohhh it's a drug alright...
My wife works at a residential drug rehab facility in Malibu CA. She said they admitted two new clients for detoxing Video games...specifically WOW, Halo and the GameSpot SW forum...I asked what their screen names are...but apparently she cant release that information..
They seem to be doing well and on their way to recovery..
I started playing it because of friends. Typically don't enjoy MMO's whatsoever. Got into it and didn't stop for a year and a half. It's very addictive until you realize you're recycling the same stuff literally over and over, same quests, same instances, everything. Have been done for about a year now. It's funny though cause alot of people talk about WoW as a past addiction.
I don't know how it could be a drug. Drugs are supposed to be addicting but World of Warcraft is anything but addicting. I still subscribe and don't play it that much, it's about as harmless as Skate 2, a game one can easily play casually every so oftenwithout becoming obsessed.
In fact, WoW has become boring after Blizzard released the WoW expansions, Ilost all motivation to level and will probably end my subscription soon.
Anybody that thinks WoW is a drug clearly has no clue what a drug is and seem to get "drug" and "addiction" confused.
13-Year-Old Commits WoW Suicide image Xiao Yi was 13 when he jumped from the top of a 24-story building. The note he left behind for his parents was written from the point of view of a video game character. Further, the note detailed his wish to meet three of his gaming friends in the afterlife. His parents asked him, at one point, about his addiction. He replied that he "had been poisoned by games and could no longer control himself." Seems like ya canWell at least you can't OD on it after only a single dose. It's actually funny you said that because I got bored of WoW in about a month like every other MMO I played.

not really, just make a resto druid and find a warlock to healbot in 2v2, instant 2200+ rating  Don't need much farming, dailies would be enough to cover for you're arena expenses and resto druids aren't as gear dependent as other classes in pvp.
I played the game for solid 4 years, then quit immediately when I didn't feel like playing it anymore, so I don't consider it a drug, no. I was extremely social in the game, and also good, being one of the 10th highest rated retridins in the world during s3/s4, but it still wasn't hard for me to quit.
No, it's not a drug. There still are some interesting aspects to WoW that make it more addictive than typical gaming that were pointed out in past threads similar to this one. One of the main things that keeps WoW players playing is how it screws with people's desires for rewards. If you put in time in WoW, you will be rewarded. Secondly, unlike real life, there is a clear path to obtaining any goal in the game, it's just a matter of time investment. Another aspect that keeps people playing is an awkward sense of social responsibility whether it's raiding with real friends or simply guild mates. Lastly, (though I'm sure I missed some) is your desire to not be one upped by other players. People will wilfully grind because they know in the long run, that gold will help fund raiding, enchants, or buying/making crafted items which will help you stay competitive with other players.
I have had my share of....lets call them party favors and WOW's addictive properties for me at least were far greater.
