It seems that wow has gone free to play for the first 20 levels.
Also it seems to include content from Burning crusade as well.

Again, not everyone can do that. I can completely understand where you're comnig from, but not everyone has friends to play with nor do they have several hours a day to devote to WoW.

i guess, but even now you're severely overstating the amount of time it requires
and from experience: if you don't have friends, don't bother
Seems Rift and other MMO's are taking their toll on WoW... from 12mill subscribers to 11.4 i think it was... Seems Blizzard are fighting back.JohnF111
Blizzard has no reason to "fight back". The fact that WoW has the majority of subscribers in the MMO world with over half a decade into it's life is nothing short of astounding.

Nearly everyone could, the game holds your hand so much now through the initial levels. Especially the Worgen and Goblin starter zones.
Experienced players could get to 20 in about 2 hours. :P

How am I severely overstating the amount of time it requires? Not everyone plays the way you or I do. For some it could take days and others it could take weeks, it all depends on how much time you have to devote to it and how anxious you are to level.

let's stay in the real world here: step back and realise that the type of gamer you're talking about would probably play for a few minutes at best. and being anxious to level? the game practically tells you where to go and how to go about levelling
I tried the free trial and didnt get the appeal, then again my friend who convinced me to play told me absolutely nothing how to play and just wanted me to play so he could get some exp. bonus...

The trial isnt nearly enough to show what the game is really like, even with the improved and updated 1-60 zones. But i suppose if you're gonna like the game then the trial should be enough to get you interested.

Firebird-5
Real world; I have a middle-aged family member who plays very casually. They've been playing since the 4.0 patch dropped and have very recently hit the level cap (level 85). She spent the majority of her time leveling professions, cooking, and fishing because she found it to be more enjoyable than the leveling process.
I'm not sure why you're making such a huge deal out of this.

i'm not the one who suggested that it could take days or weeks - we're only talking about the first 20 levels, nothing more

You misunderstood then and I probably should have clarified then. I referring to going to level 60, not 20.
i kinda miss wow every once in awhile.
it was such a blast years ago when i knew like 15 people from rl that played all the time.
I tried the trial years ago and hated it. Everything about WoW rubbed me the wrong way, from the setting, to the combat, to the quests, the controls and UI. Almost turned me off to MMO's for good.

I wish that game upon no man. The amount of damage that game did to my social skills and priorities during the two years i played it took forever to recover. Use that 15 dollars a month on a gym instead, folks.ice144
thats your fault, I played the game i didnt let wow play me. I played since Burning crusade and still play currently and have a social life and currently in university. With a item level of 379

It speaks to how good the game is if you got so addicted to the game.
Seriously, I will never understand that argument AT ALL. "I played the game for two years...and I hated it!!!"

No seriously, with the new(ish) experience and levels, it literally only takes a couple hours to get to 12-15, without a guide like zygor or anything. add in the 200% xp rested bonus and you easily can level. i mean seriously, once you can use the dungeon finder, you can get a level per dungeon.[QUOTE="Zophar87"][QUOTE="Firebird-5"]

Well obviously it's my fault, I never should have played it, and most people shouldn't either. I seriously hope you don't think that i'm some lone exception in this case. I'll go on a limb and say 80% of the general wow population is addicted to it in a negative way, and if you want to include raiders, 95%. No one cares about that stuff. Blizzard designed the game so people get max level and then get very easy epics that require no brain power or time. Its why its so successful. Casuals love that stuff.

It didn't ruin my life, but I was negatively addicted, aka worse grades, less physical activity/social skills. You'd have to be TOTAL addict to let the game ruin your life. It's not hard to have a job and still be addicted... I'll ask you again, are you really saying that you don't believe the majority of the players in the game are addicted? If so, then wow, the WoW community must've changed since i've been gone.[QUOTE="Led_poison"]I dont get it, the trial only goes to level 20 aswellFizzman
There is no time limit though.
Ok but level 20 you barely touch the game. Please Log In to post.
