It's a proven fact that lemmings only say they like short life cycles because microsoft gives it to them.

I've been gaming for a while, I like my life cycles nice & long.

Kutaragi: Ther PS3 will have a life-span of 10 years" MS: Xbox 3.0 will come out in the middle of the PS3 life cycle. It will crush the PS3 in every single way possible. At the end of PS3's life cycle, at the introductory of the PS4, the Xbox 4 will most likely surpass PS4. Say whatever you want, about Xbox coming out every 4 years. If this happenes, I will be playing next-NEXT gen games, while the PS3 will be pretty outdated, and still have 4-5 years shelf-life left. COWS. Do not be fooled by 4 or 5 or 10 year cycles of a console. As a matter of fact. I want my cosoles to die after 4 years, so I can keep up with the PC technology. But only cheaper. 4 years? Yeah 4 years is fine. Actually I wouldnt really mind if it died every 3 years just to keep up with the ever-changing pc market.

I hate to do it, but I agree

It seems that people are getting confused.  The PS1 had a life cycle of 10 years, the PS2 has a supposed life cycle of 10 years, and now the PS3 has a supposed life cycle of 10 years.  That's how long they continue to sell it.  This is, what, year 5 or 6 or 7 for the PS2?  Sony still expects the PS2 to continue to sell for another 5-4-3+ years. 

The Xbox, if what I heard about MS discontinuing production, only had a life cycle for 5 years.  It sold from 2001, to now 2006.  Not a smart move on MS's part.  If they continued to sell Xbox 1's they still might have a chance to turn a profit,yet they launch a rushed console to beat Sony.  Not very smart. 

And you guys are suprised over this? Microsoft has always rushed their products. Operating Systems, consoles, you name it.

They are already working on Window's Vista for christ's sakes!

How is Sony in a lose-lose, when they can turn a profit on a PS2 yet MS can't/won't turn a profit on the original Xbox?  I know your debating power, but power isn't everything, neither is profit, but both play a part.

Not for an operating system if it's completely overhauled. But for a slight improvement. 

However microsoft rushing a console shows disregard for thier customers.  They know that people are attracted to new things or whats hot but it all cost money.  As for the PC industry, it constantly changes and people who want to stay cought up are FORCED to buy expensive parts.  But by making a new console every 4-5 years and then killing it off you leave many behind.

Just because he doesn't give millions-billions to charities doesn't mean he doesn't contribute.  It's the exact opposite but on a much, much, MUCH smaller scale.

Just because he doesn't give millions-billions to charities doesn't mean he doesn't contribute. It's the exact opposite but on a much, much, MUCH smaller scale.

I hate to break it to you, but if you're playing PS3 for 10 years. EVERYTHING IS GOING TO LOOK GOOD in your next purchase. The 360 may at this moment look a little better than CURRENT gen, but you have to know, that Xbox is allready twice as powerfull as the PS2, so the 360 is going to impress less... However, if COWS are expecting a CGI-type of level ala Killzone, they WILL BE DISAPONTED For the cost of a graphics card of $400-500, which you HAVE to upgrade allmost every 1-2 years, if you want to keep up. You can just spend $400-$500 on a console, with the same or better graphics. Recycle. Just spend less.three60mafia

You do realize that the 10-year life span Sony referred to was the same 10-year life span they talked about with both the PlayStation and PlayStation 2, right?  Does that mean that there were 10 years between the release of one console and the next?  No.  It means that even after the new console is made, they will continue to sell the old one, and even release a few games for it.  That way, you actually get your money's worth.

If I have to pay another $400 in 3-4 years for another Xbox, I'm done with Microsoft.  I have both or their systems and I love them, but enough is enough.  I will not pay $400 or more (plus extra for games and controllers) for just slightly better graphics in 3-4 years.

How does that work out? Thay could work on PS4 when Xbox is released, surpasing that!!!Eat on that potato MS!!!mojojojo23

Shorter console life span = wack games.... developers will have no time to work on games.... plus, if sony keeps its installed fanbase... whether Xbox3 is out or not, developers will still developer for PS3 because that's where they will get their sells

If there's a monopoly only one company controls something...  So that's wrong. I see where your getting at, one person controls all, his prices are his prices and no "if's", "and's", or "but's".  Monopolies aren't the best things in the world.
