Wow looks like the ps3 really might fail.....

Hate to break it to you but R&C is just a rehash of the first two games in terms of gameplay. Its probably going to tank. No multiplayer and all they do is show that stupid disco ball thing over and over again. Kind of sad.

thats cause fanboys hyped games like lair and warhawk those games didnt look good to begin with. Heavenly Sword should've been the only flop the demo was fun even though it was short. Man I was going to warn you to edit your thread before you get busted but Casey already caught you. NO system has close to the exclusives of a PC, and to think otherwise is just a lack of reality. It is just the PC has other issues that make it not the "popular" system to be discussed here.

I was pretty darn close to buying a PS3 last year. As fortune would have it, I came across a sweet deal on a brand new 360 for only $200 (long story) and told myself I'll get one eventually.Sheesh, I paid more for my Wii than the Xbox. Now, almost a year later, there's still no "must haves" coming to the PS3 this year so for now that system is out of the question. On the other hand, the360 and even the Wii have some great exclusives coming out in the next few months.

As it stands, the only game I'm really interested in coming solely to the PS3 is FFXIII. Most of its other strong titles can also be found on the 360. It seems the infallible Sony isn't anywhere near winning this console war.

Well Ratchet is sure to be good. Lair is a flop, but it should still be an A quality game. As for Heavenly Sword, it has received one bad review(7 from UK ign, not the real official IGN score, just the small UK branch). All the other reviews have been great, yet they had the same complaints as UK ign, which was the game is too short.ultima-flare

Didn't one of the PS mags (PXM?) give HS the same score as Lair (8.0). In my mind that is not good period to be an equal to Lair. Oh, and I have a feeling after the next two month's, that Play magazine is going to lose all credibility it ever had, if it had any to begin with.

FF13 is my main interest too, but with the long term, unknown release date for 13 and Sony's less then stellar sale numbers for hardware and software, that may be in Jeopardy as an exclusive. Way too early to tell but business is business. Heck, in all honesty it wouldn't shock me if we find out FF13 was tanked for the PS3 and moved to the PS2 as they would litterally get 5x more sales, nex gen or not. The other option is of course is the 360 since it is building an RPG base.

Bottome line is this: If SE can not recoup expendetures for the FF13 game, they will have to find more revenue somewhere.

You're exaggerating the issue quite a bit. HS hasn't flopped after one bad review... especially one that still praises the combat action and visuals of the game among the best they've seen so far. Point is, every review still points to Heavenly Sword being great. Lair won't be great but it will still be good. And the PS3 is still putting out the type of games that you would not have been able to play elsewhere... with plenty more to come this year. So I'm not really sure what you're dissappointed with???

Oh, and Warhawk hasn't flopped by the way... there are no official review sources anywhere.

I'm sorry, are you in denial or something? The only thing good IGN UK had to say about Heavenly Sword was the presentation and visuals, sound still being good. They said the gameplay was repetative, uninspired, and the game itself was so short that an entire act being devoted to ranged (tedius) gameplay took far too long. Hell, they even said it had hardly any replayability due to any unlockables lacking motivation to achieve them due to the repetative combat. Did we read a different review?

I bought a ps3 because I was looking forward to some great upcoming games. Lair, Heavenly sword, ratchet, Looks like 2 out of the three are going to flop for sure. Dont know anything about ratchet and clank, except the graphics look good. Looks like my buy was a bust lets just hope mgs4 is great. I think that is the only game coming out that want flop for sure. I never belived all te fanboy trash talk till now the ps3 really does SUCK RIGHT NOW and will for a few more months to come. Not for a while. Its tough to admit they made a $500 mistake and many of them will defend it until the end by justifying their purchase by boasting about games that are STILL a long ways away.

It sucks that the games are getting poor reviews, but reviews don't have as much to do with console sales at marketing does. A game can be reviewed poorly by a number of sites (like LAIR, so far) but if Sony decides to makret lair (of course market it effectively) it will sell and sell consoles. Some of the best selling games did not get very good reviews, because a bunch of people that play games do not even look at reviews, tehy simply will play games at others peoples houses or see game advertisements and buy the game...so some "critical flops" won't make the ps3 fail. it could defintly fail if it doesnt get the price down. I dont care if they pack the thing with 200gig, four game bundle its never going to sell well at $500 even if MGS4, FF13 and GT5 all come out on the same day. If Sony wants PS2 sales they need to take massive losses and get it to under $400 otherwise they aren't ever going to catch the 360.
