[QUOTE="PikaPichu"]You gamers are pretty young. Back in my day, games like Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Final Fantasy III for the SNES cost about $70-$80. :lol:HarlockJCIn the US they were $50 No way. RPGs and fighting games were expensive as heck over here in the US!
[QUOTE="ramey70"]Still a very cheap hobby. donalbane
I would say gaming is a "cheap hobby" but it seems right in line with about every other hobby taken to the level of dedication most people in this forum do.
What kind of hobbies you think are much cheaper?
[QUOTE="ramey70"]Still a very cheap hobby. donalbane
I golf and snowboard. Good golf clubs and a good snowboard cost more then a new console and they are replaced more frequent, then greens fees, lift tickets, memberships and season passes are spendy as well. Luckily my hobby of poker is profitable.

Have you ever heard of anything called INFLATION ?
I don't think it has too much to do with inflation. Wii games are still cheap because they're last gen tech. Games for current gen systems like the 360 and PS3 cost about $10-$20 more than last gen games.[QUOTE="arabi_89"][QUOTE="Chrome-Impala"]Las gen was 49.99$

it has to do with inflation, however at this moment the cost of developing a game is quite expensive especially for the PS3 since its more complicated to develope games for it than the x360. but games should get cheaper in 2 years and not really remain at 70$ since developers have a more cost-effective technique to make games.

SNES games = 69.99$ (Maybe closer to 80 depending where you bought it)
Neo Geo Games = 249.99$ if I remember right...

But inflation IS extremely important. If we had a 3% inflation, $60 today would be worth $70 in five years.
Â
The Wii is cheaper because it's comparably cheaper to develop for. Â
Isnt it great every PC game is still $40-$50 even when its released alongside a console version at $60?
Oh yes it is.

RPGs and fighting games were expensive as heck over here in the US! Yup. The average SNES game cost $59.99, as I recall. Plus they pretty much stayed that way until they stopped being made, because there was no Greatest Hits/Player's Choice/Platinum whatever back then. I paid $79.99 for FFIII way back in the day.

[QUOTE="Stabby2486"]Yeah, it's kind of funny how Oblivion on PC cost about 50 $ while Oblivion on 360 cost 60 $.DrukterThat's because PC games barely sell anymore. It's at the consoles where the money is. Maybe because there are less brainless milkable casuals in the PC market? I say maybe...
