You have to pay to get features already included on the disc? What a load of crap. Seriously, I already payed for the game, why can't have access to all the features on it.

"Although Versus mode makes use of the assets that exist in the game, the functionality is not currently in the game and is above and beyond the initial scope ofResident Evil 5," says Capcom. "We have never included a Versus mode in Resident Evil before, and as well as the costs of development of the feature, there's also additional bandwidth costs associated with it."

Seriously? What about resident evil outbreak? they didn't need to pay online for that! What do you guys think?

I wouldnt go that far. It has some of the most amazing and exciting action sequences this gen. The only problem is the length and A.I, as well as kinda dated gameplay.

I would gladly welcome a versus mode in RE5, but there is no way I am paying for it.

I bought 3 games from Capcom so far this year. All have kicked ***. Can't wait for Bionic Commando, Dark Void, and Dead Rising 2. Capcom FTW. I love Capcom. Mmm.

Luckily the RE series and especially RE5 are dedicated to single player campaigns, now with coop, I think, for the 3rd time in RE. A versus mode in RE sounds ridiculous so I wouldn't even buy it anyways. But ya, it should have been included. No question their. After playing the game for 7 hours so far, a versus is the last thing I want to play. This game is an action fans dream with unbelievable graphics. It's not as good as RE4 because I feel the pacing is off, and of course that slow build of tension and fear of the unknown has been turned down quite a few notches. Easily a 8.5 game fir sure though. Depending on the unlockables, it could easily be a 9. Lets put it this way. I can't wait to restart the game on veteran and try a completely different combination of weapons (Which there are a ton off) You could obviously pass the game on a weekend as a rental, but only one play through is around 30% of everything the game has to offer. And the graphics easily match Killzone2, especially in character models. dr-venkman

im loving it, im currently playing on vetaran, about 9% done the game lol, ive been playing for like 8 hours.

but the graphics are amazing, the best ive seen on a console, ever better IMO then kz 2, i own both consoles and i have both games dont call me a fanboy.

and im excited to for the unlockables, i beat re4 about 10 times, so much fun

when RE5 was in alpha/beta the devlopers had a vision then the buhuhuh-its-racist evil people came and made the devs do a bunch of tweaks to make the zombies less savage and add zombies of diffrent eneticies and an african companion, which you are dependant on and AI happen to suck so you need to co-op a RE game....


and hey why the hell can't I sidestep or backstep slowly while aiming? that hard to implent it? takes off realism greatly, when they talked about gears of war-like controlls I was like whoah this game gonna be fluid nons top run and gun action!

This is a load of crap. So they lock a feature on the disc and then sell the activation code? Why? Because of bandwith costs? Last time I checked the whole point of putting in multiplayer is to increase sales hence it should pay for its self. They admit that they are ripping their customers, and try to justify it by saying, "Well RE dosn't usually do multi...", what are they saying, that it's some sort of premium feature that requires that the customer pay more for this "premium game"? Funny, I payed £10 for Guild Wars and was given a full game with all relevant updates for free, despite the fact that it was far more than what was promised originally. I consider that premium, but I would not have payed extra for it because I was told I was buying the full product and nothing less. This is inexcusible. The DLC wont sell, and the game will sell less because of a lack of multiplayer if justice gets its way.

Capcom makes good games but they are really squeezing alot of money out of dlc. I realized this with SFIV i'm almost 100% sure that all the alternate costumes are on disc..

Same here. I was thinking about buying it new this weekend, but then I read this and decided that I don't want to give capcom any money so I'll be picking this up 2nd hand a couple of months down the line. Needless to say under no circumstances will I pay for this disgrace of a dlc.

I'm not buying it, because it's obvious it's to milk money out of gamers especially when they announce it right when the game is released. Don't buy it, no one should.

Eh some people love the game, some people like it, some people are indifferent to it. I think it was an ok game, but i wont be remembering it for long. Now this whole DLC bs, yes its bs, but sheeple pay for anything.

1. All DLC make use of at least some assets on-disc. Take a look at GTAIV: L&D (Which no one, if I recall, trashed on).
2. Versus, as they've said, is going above and beyond RE5's initial scope, much like GTAIV: L&D.
3. I'm not familiar with Outbreak's online but bandwidth costs for that can be assumed to come from the retail price.
4. I think we'd be complaining less if they merely 'cut out' all Versus-related content from the disc and intentionally hid it for 6 months.

All that said, I'm not buying Versus simply because I don't care for online at all.

What if it doesn't sell? Then people would have spent 5 dollars a dead online community.
