I will just use my generic 16 gig, thanks MS. That is just as bad as the prices for the Sony PSP memory sticks.

this isn't a surprise

"official" anything is extremely expensive

"offifical" HDMI's are like $70 where as normal (aka the same as the "official" one) ones on ebay are like $3

sad thing is...uninformed people WILL buy this just like they buy those HDMI cables...but we are informed, so don't complain TC...this is normal, just get a 3rd party one

Adding a feature that Sony has had since it's inception. Sony also allows ANY HDD to be installed into their system and they go up to 500 gig for LESS then the cost of MS's 120 gig.

Also PS3 doesn't limit you on the size of the memory stick you can use unlike this "update" on 360.

In other words, the 360 should have had this "feature" from the very start.

Got my 360 HD-DVD add-on with 6 movies for $50 at BestBuy. That was the day I realized what it feels like to be a vulture.

Considering that the "format war" was in lingo at the time...i don't think many people actually bought those. It helped Sony though since they had it from the get-go, but it really upped the price.

have expensive own brand peripherals is pretty common in retail. its to take advantage of the morons who don't know any better. after all, these are business who survive by making money and if some moron stumbles in off the street and picks up the one with the 360 stick on it then its his fault and MS or any company would be stupid not to take advantage of that. Nintendo did it with the Wii branded San disk SD cards....

Well first off those are Gamestop prices. Like I mentioned on another thread, GS shows a Wii 4GB SDHC card for $29.99. When is the last time any one with half a brain paid $30 for a 4GB SDHC card? I think you get them free with a fill up at Hess now. :)

Could they release a System Update that would enable these USB drives to be used as extended System Memory, breaking through the 512MB limit?

No. Just an alternative storage medium. But if they could be implemented as extended RAM memory (like what you have in Windows Vista and 7) that would make them worth the price.

I'm coming from being a fan of the original series too. I'm really hoping this new one does for V, what Ronald D Moore did for BSG.

I'm pretty sure they could, a la Windows Vista/7's ReadyBoost feature but that would likely be a huge problem for developers having to cater to gamers that are and are not using flash drives to expand the 360's memory capacity.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about, this is totally reasonable to pay for a Seamless Experience like these branded drives offer. I am going to buy 2 of the 16 GB and a backup 8 GB, these sound like a great deal.
APRIL FOOLS!
