Well it's actually 50,000, not 40k.. so yea learn some arithmetic. Other than that, if the ps3 is doing mediocre at best on its home land (Japan), I wouldn't count on EU saving it, but suit yourself.
Those sales numbers are not worldwide totals. So the 360 outselling thr PS3 in the U.S is a big deal because 360 sales in Europe were not included in those numbers.

You do realize that those numbers don't include 360 sales in Europe either. Right? Right? I'll concede that the PS3 may have better worldwide sales after it launches in Europe. It sounds like you're trying to say that the 360 is only selling 293k EVERYWHERE, while the PS3 is only selling 243k in NA.

Apples and oranges Big Boss. If you took the time to factor in the other areas where the 360 sells consoles, the difference was much larger than 50k. The European launch will certainly help the PS3. Not enough. The US is the biggest single console market in the world and the 360 widened the gap this past month. Worse still, the PS2 outsold the PS3. How can the PS3 hope to succeed if it can't outsell the machine it's intended to replace? Face it, the PS3 is lookin' a whole lot like 3rd place material.

This thread fails on many levels. For one, you forgot to mention the overall numbers (i.e. 360's 8 million+ lead) Second, you failed to mention anything but N.A. sales numbers, and lastly, you forgot to compare the PS3 to it's real competition at the moment:Wii. 360 is light years ahead.

Those numbers were only for North America. The 360 NPD numbers didn't include Europe's numbers for 360 either. Second ofcourse for 1-2 months sales for PS3 will do good at launch in Europe every console sales good it's first 1-2months.

Lack of games compared to the 360 this year will hinder its sales overall this year. Games sell consoles....not a brand name!!! Don't think for a minute that sony will pull this off without good games to go with its system!!
