[QUOTE="madsnakehhh"]YES!!! Because clearly, this totally looks like CoD :lol:ActionRemixIt looks like a ripoff of popular brawlers. They ditched everything that could have made the game unique and innovative in favor of "fun." Fun is a bad thing now? This is the worst meltdown ever. At least with other meltdowns, people would have good reasons to have a meltdown. Now people are actually bashing the concepts of fun and skill in favour of cinematic experiences, coolness and flashy graphics. Thank god I jumped shipped to handheld gaming.
[QUOTE="ActionRemix"]Cut at will. Oh wait. Nevermind. Only during scripted sequences.EponiqueSorry, this is no "press A to win" game  God, "look how long it takes to beat an enemy!", is the best complaint people can come up with :lol:My complaint is that they ditched everything that made the game interesting to me in the first place and replaced it with a generic brawler. Even the graphics took a nose dive. No idea how that happened when we saw a live demo of it last year.

The current game looks horrific.

This is going to take the best beat 'em up (Bayonetta) and improve on it.

It also was going to feature hunter stealth - stalking prey as opposed to fleeing predators like in typical MGS. No brawler elements in the 2010 game.

That was more boring than the trailer :? You still don't know if the final game will be any different though. I hope it doesn't get through though, that put me to sleep. The most recent trailer looks the best.

[QUOTE="Slashkice"]Looks like Kojima got bored. It probably would have been a bad game.Kojima wasn't involved in development. The old Rising was cancelled for those wondering. We're only getting the game now because Platinum was asked to step in as a dev.

[QUOTE="cainetao11"]Its obvious some had preconcieved notions of what this game was going to be. I never once thought it would be a stealth first game. Hence the former moniker,"lighting bolt action". But hey no game is for everyone. lancea34The game initially was supposed to include stealth like all metal gear solid games. You could still decide to kill enemies or not and you could even finish the whole game without killing anybody. well I guess I missed that info on what it was supposed to be. Can you guide me to a source of that info?

You mean the trailer where Raidens sword looksl ike it's made out of wood?
OMG, a potentially playable MGS game; they've betrayed fans of the lengthy unplayable cinematics. Anyhow, I didn't see any breakdance fighting... they gotta have the breakdance fighting like in MGS4 or I'm so not buying it. Leave out the armless fighting with a sword in the mouth, as well as that sappy Raiden family reunion, and I might dish out a few clams. Anyhow, Platinum Games is making this one, which is why I'm showing any interest in it.lamprey263

In this post: MGS4 is the only prior MGS game.
[QUOTE="NeonNinja"]Except it looks like it was turned into a hack n slash. I thought it was always a hack and slash? It landed in the hands ofa competent developer known for making two of the best games of this generation. I'd say things are looking might fine for Rising.

Judging from the gifs that kind sir has posted, it sure looks like one. Albeit not as crazy and over the top.

You mean 2010? I don't remember any footage from 2009. And there's plenty of hack n slash in that 2010 vid.
Seeing the 2010 version and 2011 version side by side it makes even more apparent how badly the switch to NG style gameplay was needed.
Man this is my game of the show actually. I love these types of games.
Eh, I don't feel like bumping the other thread, so here's a summary of the recent KojiPro podcast:
- Kamiya isn't directing, more info coming soon
- Rising was cancelled due to lacking gameplay - apparently they had the cutting mechanics and nothing else
- Story was changed to take place years after MGS4 to give Platinum more freedom
- Enemies are all cyborgs
This is the podcast, and this is the translation.

Yeah that's too bad, precision cutting bowling pins and watermelons would have been such a gripping experience.
Oh damn, first bullet point made me take an arrow to the knee. I wonder who is directing then...Eh, I don't feel like bumping the other thread, so here's a summary of the recent KojiPro podcast:

No Kamiya definitely killed what little hope I had. Oh well, hopefully his next game will be shown sooner rather than later.
If you people want to kill people in one hit, you can play on the inevitable "Very Easy" mode :lol:Eponique
Combat is not the only problem, and hitting someone with a razor sharp katana would slice them in half. The bigger problem is the original trailer actually resembled Metal Gear. It was over the top but still grounded in some sort of reality. The new trailer looks like Vanquish with swords, and almost cartoony. It looks terrible. How you can't see it is beyond me. :?
Why do I keep seeing people say "Ninja Gaiden type game"? :x
The gameplay doesn't look nearly that good. It completely lacks the necessary enemy AI, speed and precision to be compared directly to NG the way people are doing. And yes, before someone julmps my case, you can tell these things from a video.
It would be like calling some so-so platformer a game a Mario type game just because the character jumps.
