Alright, so I'm not being anti-Sony here, but what the heck are they thinking letting FF go? Hasnt Kaz recently stated that Sony will start thinking about securing exclusives? What bigger exclusive (besides MGS4) could they let slip than FF?

I dont get it, but all I know is MS really stuck it to them today. But one thing I will complain about is how MS is going the casual route. Lips? Avatars? I like the blades, and hate that "casual" is all the rage now. I know games like Viva Pinata and Lips are "casual" but do they scream CASUAL by making avatars? They should leave it alone, or make it an option to keep your gamer pics and stuff without getting cheesy avatars.

There letting Microsoft eat at the Final Fantasy fanbase outside of Japan

A risky move but not catastrophic

Final Fantasy XIII will sell like crack filled hotcakes in Japan, where the 360 is weak

Mark my words: Sony will sell more copies of Final Fantasy XIII

I believe Sony is taking the route of N64, concentrating on 1st/2nd party titles since 3rd party exclusives are gonna be hard to come by for every console.

An already multiplat First person shooter that sold less than the lowest selling FF ever released on a Ps console what a huge blow to Microsoft. Final Fantasy Going Multiplat was the last nail in the Ps3 coffin if you ask me.

It's just one game just like MGS4 is just one game. They won't decide much. The impact of this may be huge here on the SW forums, but in the real world this isn't too important.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if MS has been shoving huge amounts of money in SE's direction lately to accomplish this. Would also explain the other exclusives (like SC4).

Sony didn't let FF13 go

People need to realize Square-Enix is it's own entity. Square simply does not have faith that the PS3 alone can sustain enough sales to support FF13, that's all.

Bioshock wasn't a big exclusive, it was on PC too. It was inevitable. It's still a timed exclusive even for the sequel.

Damage Control at its finest....

If Sony really did want to keep FF XIII, they would've money hatted SE like crazy! And everyone and their grandma knows loosing such a huge franchise to the X360 will be a crippling blow to the PS3 (not to mention send the wrong messge to say...Namco....and especially.....say...Konami). If I were Sony, I would've pay through my nose if that's necessary to keep it exclusive, at least timed-exclusive to the platform. But no, Sony didn't. And now they've just lost a potential customer, along with many others!

Sony never paid for FF before, neither did they pay for GTA

Markets change, and Sony doesn't think it worth it to secure every game they expected to be exclusive with immense money-hats.

Only Microsoft can run a business in the red like that.

Who the f**k told you sony never paid for ff? Sony killed sega by bribing the hell out of developers(EA mostly).

Sony never bribed anyone. At most they promised to publish certain games, but that's about it.

If they bribed everyone, then everyone would always expect to be bribed. Publishers would constantly have Sony's throat.

actually if you look on the official post on GS's E3 page it states they will come out both at the same time.

It's going to come out on the PS3 in Japan and only THEN will they even start localization of the NA/Euro PS3 version and only at that time will they start the 360 version. They said they hope to have the 360 ported around the same time they localize the PS3 version, keyword is "hope"

So it looks like both PS3 and 360 owners are going to have a hell of a wait, even after the game is out in Japan.

Boltybolt

ROFLMAO!!!!

Where is that O RLY owl when you need it?

Not bribe anyone? OOOKKKKK....So no money hats whatsoever from Sony...EVER???

How the hell did you think FF VII went on the PS1 in the first place? Yea, Nintendo helped the cause by shooting themselves with the cart thing. But if you don't believe Sony didn't promise monatary incentives, great support and money for keeping the FF brand on the PS, then you got another thing coming!

Currently, developers EXPECTS to be bribed! How the HECK did you think MS keeps their exclusives, Nintendo theirs and Sony theirs? With competition this high, you have to fight tooth and nails to get a leg up on your competitors. 3rd party develoeprs are their own masters, to make them bark at you, you have to give them incentives. Last two gen, Sony got that incentive with market share. This gen, market share belongs to Nintendo. Without that, the only thing you got left is money hats. Not giving money hats leave you in the postion of the PS3 now, crippled (though still afloat) and crying for help! Without FF XIII, you can bet at least 3 million people will jump ship to MS instead. In this close fight between the PS3 and X360, that's difference between 2nd or 3rd place!

No money hat.......Fanboyz.......They will believe in anything!
