Why are you complaining about Gertsmann's 4/5 he gave brawl? Did you even read his review/blog post? It's spot on. I know because I got brawl on day one. Also, he's using a rating scale that's out of 5. The highest score he can give a game is 4/5, because there's virtually no such thing as a perfect game.

So what the hell do you want from him? Do you want you're precious brawl to get a perfect score? Guess what, the fighting mechanic is identical to melee, the online is buggy and non functional 85% of the time, and the SSE tries to use fighter controls in a side scroller.

The game is NOT perfect. So why am I seeing things like this?

He gave Smash Bros. Brawl a 4/5. Seriously, is this some kind of joke? Something tells me he would have rated it an 8.0 on here if he reviewed it.

Super-Mario-Fan

Ya..it's official, Gertsmann is anti-Nintendo. majadamus

The wii has like 1 or 2 good titles like every 4 months and when those decent games do come out, everyone better rate it perfect or else they hate nintendo!!

Seriously you sheep are pathetic. Get off of system wars and clean the crap accumulating in your head.

I can't believe how many of you are reacting so idiotically to a freak'n 4/5. It's the highest score you can give a game with a 5 star review system.

Why don't you actually try READING what he has to say about it, instead of looking at a number and going into rabbid fanboy mode.

I sorry but his review suck. He left out many things, plus a couple things that are some of the reason that the game is great. It sounded like he only play Adventure Mode and a couple of brawls.

The only thing I noticed was that he didn't talk about graphics; which bodes well for you sheep. It's not exactly techinically proficient.

And yet Jeff has already handed out two 5/5 scores, to Professor Layton and Burnout Paradise.

Other than that, and your not-so-subtle attack on the Wii's library, I agree.

It wasn't meant to be subtle. Before I got brawl, my wii wasn't even hooked up since i beat Twilight Princess. I skipped Galaxy to buy Assassin's Creed and Uncharted.

considering that professor layton and burnout paradise both got 5 stars (yeah...because they are completely perfect with no flaws what so ever.....sure jeff  ) It would have made sense to give Brawl 5 stars. Plus the review was poorly written. it seemed like all he did was just beat subspace emissary, played a couple of versus matches and called it a day. Without even delving into any of the other featues of the game.

Is it so wrong to demand a quality review?

Getsmans reviews have always sucked. Every fanboy faction has wanted his head at some pint over the entire course of his career here. It amazes me how many people actually cared about his departure.

And giantbomb has already given two 5/5's.

Big deal, one un-perfect score, still love the game, still play the Wii. The library is better than most give it credit for.

I don't disagree with it. Then again, I just plain suck at fighting games, so I'm not the best source of criticism.

He didn't mention the stage builder and the Final Smashes. He hardly talk about the Online multiplayer and the four control scheme. He didn't even mention the outstanding soundtrack. All he seem to talk about is the adventure mode, the Brawls, and a little bit about the characters and stages.

Good thing he didn't mention the created stages section. It is great, but it doesn't change the GAMEPLAY. ALso, since there isn't an organized and concise online method of sharing and rating user created stages, it is like a half-implemented dream. And what about the Final Smashes? They're a new gameplay element sure, but it isn't like they absolutely overhaul the enjoyment of what was there before or completely change up the core gameplay of SSBB. Hell, they can be turned off or completely avoided in some cases. And while its implementation certainly is different that most other fighter's super move engines, it is not like its the first time we have seen a super move system in a fighting game. Hell, Power Stone had almost an identical system and it was way back in the day.

Sequels are bound to get lower scores, but Smash Bros. core combat does NOT need to be changed. It is timeless.
