-Possible release dates: Firest retail version of the R600 to be released at Ceibit (March 11)
-1Gb of memory based on GDDR3/GDDR4 interface. 2 - 4Gb variants are for developemnt purposes
-64 unified shaders pipelines
-128 shader operations per cycle
-Core clock is at 700 - 800Mhz for silicon A12 revision (Rumored over 1000 MHz, revision A15 silicon which is in development) Ram is at 2200Mhz
-599$ for the 1024Mb version and 549$ for the 512MB version (Thats a no-brainer choice)
-2 Billion triangles/s (Thats 3x that of The 360)
-Support of Quad-GPU/4-card setup as written in R600 driver.
-Dual HDMI
-
Only 220-300W dedicated to the card alone.
-720 million transiter count in the GPU
-The design of R600 is similar to the Xbox 360's GPU "Xenos", with the distinction of being DX10 compliant. However, the R600 will not feature the 10 MB daughter-die embedded ram (eDRAM) frame buffer

Expensive. If you ask me, the winner is the company that can provide a well priced mainstream/enthusiast level card with great performance. And one that overclocks very well is nice too.

Have you seen the Core Duo 4300? It's the new 300A. Now we need a card to be the next Ti 4200 and this generation of CPUs/GPUs will be really nice...

All it is is a way for people to say... "look! I have money!" ...without even saying it.

Rumour has it, there is going to be some with core/mem clocks over 2.0GHz. Mini computers themselves.

Andy Keane, general manager of professional products at Nvidia, told TG Daily that Nvidia graphics cards scheduled to launch later this year will go 64-bit and offer the double-precision feature. Current graphics cards are running on 32-bit and not 64-bit, providing only single-precision data capability - instead of the required double-precision capability.

Nice specs. I guess I just decided which card I was using in the new comp I'm building....I was really undecided. I think I'll go with the x28000 xtx.

I am not even considering upgrading for Crysys, but for Spore. Sometime tells me that If I want my 32 inch monitor to look good I will have to have the greates card available when that game is out.

That is like the bare minimum DX9 card you can use to play anything recent on the PC. Get rid of it.

Nice specs :D I saw the supposed "leaked" pics for the R600 and that thing is huge! That will not fit in my case. You know what? I don't understand why graphics cards are getting larger and sucking more power then ever, yet all other computer components stay the same physical size and get better. I mean we can make dual and quad core cpu's that can do an insane amount of processing, and yet they are about the same size as they've always been and don't use that much more power.

Same can be said with ram, hard drives, and motherboards, they've all gotten faster and more reliable and they don't increase in size, why is it that graphics cards are going the other direction? Is Nvidia and ATI just not designing these videocards with efficiency in mind, or are they just being lazy? I don't think anyone can answer these questions, but it still bothers me. I just don't get it.

I know for sure, well almost for sure that R600 will be better than the G80, although Nvidia will come out with the 8900 line, so then nvidia wil most likely be the dominant one (just like Geforce 7/ATI X1k gen), but the companies which win are the ones which have the best mid range choice, and well so far Nvidia has dominated that, and it can be seen that they actually are dominating (have 70% of the Market Share i believe) Anyway, Geforce 8900GTS ftw (card i am aiming to get, lol got 7900GT this gen, so think 8900GTS line will be good)

Thank god for ATI. I was worried they were slacking. Though I'm switching back to Nividia for a short time by getting an 8800GT, I'll be right back with ATI with in a few years

ATi > nVidia Nonetheless, the XTX seems to be horribly inefficient cards, things like a gig of RAM and GDDR4 RAM being tossed in, expensive and unneeded. Considering the XT wont have any of that, you can guess that this is just to beat out nVidias top offering.

High end card wise, yeah ATI>Nvidia, although it does move around. But mid range cards, and low end cards, nvidia has always won in that sector. One reason hwy they have so much more market share imo.

You don't have to upgrade. Im still using an X800GT.

That's why I only play at low resolutions (up to 14x9), just buy a good card and you're done for the next two, three years tops...

I'm upgrading to a 8800 GTX and expect it to run maxed games in 2008/09... When you play at 19x12 or 25x16 you have to upgrade every year to get the best out of your games...

I found with mid-range cards that ATi offer a much broader range, if you have that little extra to spend then its ATi. Im extremely tempted to go out and by the 8800 GTS 320mb, that card is a friggin monster, but i know ATi will have something and im going to upgrade my 939 computer for the very last time in the summer, when by then obviously will be better cards out.
