It's not true 1080p on the 360 it's upscaled. The 360 hardware upscales them
The only TRUE 1080p games are Ninja Gaiden Sigma, MLB The Show, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and NBA 07 and 08. All what? Ps3 exclusives

theres not a whole lot of true 1080p games, i do believe that lair if not 720 then it is 1080p, but as we all know, shiny graphics dont make a good game
Is there any 360 game that runs in true 1080p?
I want Killer Instinct 3 in 1089p... that would be sick.H8s2spooge
I am pretty sure NBA Street (Vol 3?) and Superman the Gamerun in 1080p on 360, if not more games.
Personally, I think Sony's rhetoric about 1080p prior to PS3's launch, pertained mostly to PS3's ability to play Blu-ray movies, over HDMI... It was mid-leading - - because a lot of people assumed that they meant that PS3 games were going to be true 1080p, when in fact, very few presently are, or apparently ever will be for that matter...
apparently 1080p is just an impractical choice for most games... it has something to do with over-consuming system resources and bandwidth issues...
720p seems to be this gen's 'sweet-spot'...

Developers of multiplatform games always develop first on the 360 (limited disc space + larger install base + easier game engine/processor/etc. to work with) and then port the game onto the PS3. That's why the PS3 usually gets the crappier end of most multiplatform games (although some multiplats are actually better overall on the PS3 than the 360 - but certainly not the majority). Multiplatform games would be much harder to make if they were originally developed for the PS3 and then ported over to the 360 - that's why developers do it the other way around, and why the limitations of the 360 (relative to the PS3) are also limiting the potential of multiplatform games on the PS3. To find the best quality of games on the PS3, look to exclusives from trusted developers such as Sony itself, Naughty Dog, Insomniac etc.

exactly.
let them make the best game they can instead of wasting time at chasing something that can not be achieved properly
NG sigma is NATIVE 720p Upscaled to 1080p. Its not true 1080p.
Remember that people.
360 hardware has a better upscaler and thats why most of the 360 titles have 1080p on the back of the box, yes its misleading but its upscaled to that reslolution.

NGS and MLB are 720p, not 1080p and they are upscaled by software. GT5 is fake 1080p (renders in 960x1080) which takes advantage of the hardware scalor which only scales on one axis. Not sure about NBA 07 and 08 but they look like **** anyway.
I believe this is one that does native 1080P on 360.
Sound and Graphics
Graphically, Virtua Tennis 3hits some high notes. The character models are realistic in most cases: Roger Federer and Venus Williams look great, for instance, while everyone's favorite tennis sex symbol, Maria Sharapova, leaves a lot to be desired. The animations -- like swishing cloth textures and hair -- are excellent, and you'll really enjoy the new spin, reach, and dive animations. The grass and clay courts wear down over time, too, showing spots where players planted a perfectly placed corner shot. The crowds generally look good, with a variety of different attendees animating in different ways, and the courts are pretty good looking, too.
The game looks solid in 1080p. If you have a TV to show off this resolution, you're sort of in luck. My review build showed off some pretty ugly texture seams in players' heads, on the courts, and in cutscenes. Overall, the texture work isn't stunning. You'll see the textures are very basic, and the resolution doesn't enhance tremendous graphic design. The visuals appear more like high-res versions of the current generation version than true next-gen graphics.
I'm not usually for this kind've thing, but I think they need to make some kind've regulations on how they advertise this. They should list the native resolution and the upscaled resolution. Saying 1080p on the back of every box is misleading. If it's upscaled it should say so.EmperorSupreme
So true. Regulate the false!!!
it's funny because the PS3 scaler can scale movies very well, it's one of the best actually but I might've read somewhere that the cell might be doing the upscaling, but for gaming yes the 360 scaler is much much better.NG sigma is NATIVE 720p Upscaled to 1080p. Its not true 1080p.

lol...Wow you still don't get it about what these two consoles are doing between 720p and 1080p!! There is no such thing as REAL NATIVE 1080P on 360 or PS3. Up-scaled man up-scaled! Simple as that. Correct. The PS3 can only scale on two axises using software. Some games build scaling into the engine like NGS and MLB 08 but most dont.

Um 720p is an extremly low resolution by PC standards amd the PS3 can barily do that, quite often with the better looking games its lower.
If the ps3 had a good working upscaler, it'd be all fine. But it only works on dvds, blu-rays *haven't confirmed*, and ps1/ps2 games. Most games can't do native 1080p anyways, because of how hardware intensive it is. Most crappier looking games could probably do it, since they're not that hardware intensive anyways. 720p still looks good enough though. Heck, even 480p does. Just wait until the next generation in 2-3 years, and most things will probably be 1080p.hazukiblu ray's dont need to be upscaled, they are all native 1080p.
