The PS3 has shown a little bit of grittiness this gen as well, but Im still saying the 360 is the grittiness console of all time. It started off as expected, a new system with vast improvements over its predecessor. Then the problems came and boy did they come hard. The RROD, the E74, the lack of HDMI for its first few years, monthly or annual fee for online play and more. The fans still were loyal and the machines kept selling. Its software sales have always been impressive and that is a credit to the loyal 360 fans worldwide. Can anyone recall a single month where (minus a major PS3 exclusive) the PS3 outperformed the 360 in the software sales departement? I cannot despite them always being comprable in hardware sales
What I am trying to say is the 360 could have easily gone the way of the dreamcast. A successor to a platform that only reached mediocre success and had problems right off the bat. It also took basically 3 full years for that problem to be a thing of the past and during that time where it could have easily been kicked to the wayside, the 360 stayed strong in hardware and software sales and people did not buy into the PS3 as sony (and everyone) thought they would. Now with all the issues a thing of the past and the 360 firmly planted in second place with another great year of games ahead, expect it to continue to scrap its way through 2010 as it has done every year prior in its existance
