one big reason: RROD
and seriously i think the one year headstart do more harm to them than good.
they rushed it out too early, and creating alot of short-sighted problems on the console. and are there alot of talks about MS trying to get Blu-ray? i'm guessing they are planning out their next Xbox 720 already.

TRYING to get blu ray? Its not like they have to go beg sony for permission to put blu ray on ANYTHING. Sony doesn't own bluray.. its not theirs and theirs alone. A lot of companies are involved in the development of the Bluray technoligy. Heck, even the company that designed the GCN/Wii optical discs had a hand in development.

if you think MS won't have a hard time getting that Blu-ray license, you better think again, kiddo. Sony knows that Blu-ray is one of the biggest advantage PS 3 has over the 360, you think they will let them have it so easily, wouldn't you? plus, even if MS managed to obtain the license, they still have to pay Sony loyalty. plus, MS backing the blu-ray rival format and then failed probably pissed off Sony too.
M$ doesn't care so much as 360 as Xbox Live.
They are making around 300 million dollars every 2 months with Xbox Live -- insanity!
(10 mil users x 30$ every two months)
awsss
$30 every 2 months? your on crack its $50 a year.

Hmm, don't you think if sony tried to do that that maybe MS would simply cripple BR drives in windows? Sony isn't in the position of power you think they are.[QUOTE="MrGrimFandango"][QUOTE="awsss"]M$ doesn't care so much as 360 as Xbox Live.

And even if they did you think they'd actually get away with that?! Hell No. MS image would take a serious beating if they tried that not to mention they might get taken back to court.

nope, i don't think so. devoiding themselves with Blu-ray drive for Windows is only gonna hurt Windows when Blu-ray has become the next main proprietor format that everybody is going to use. plus, MS has no saying on which hardware is gonna be on which PC system. users can always plug in whatever hardware they want and download the driver from the manufacturer. that means, even though MS don't like Blu-ray, there's nothing much they can do about it. user can still buy one from a store, install it on their PC, download a driver from Sony website or whichever sites from their manufacturer, then they are good to go. so what was your point again?

If any company wanted to use BluRay they'd have to pay ROYALTIES to the Blu-ray Disc Association. Which isn't Sony, It does include Sony, but not Sony alone. I'd say if Microsoft did decide to put BluRay in their next console they'd prolly go right back to LG to get the BluRay drive, seeing as LG did the DVD drive for the 360. You act as though Sony owns the BluRay and they decide who gets it and who doesn't. Nintendo and Microsoft have both had in depth dealing swith members of the BluRay Disc association. SO, again, I don't see why they'd have a problem.. IF they wanted to support BluRay in t heir next console. Please Log In to post.
