They will cry when they can't use that excuse anymore and the X360 will sell more than the PS3 next winter.

LOL funny picture. Anyway like the PS2 that got better over time that had less DREs the 360 will have less heat issues meaning less breaking down. Oh and how is that milking when people buy a new console in the fall that has the new CPU in it. I guess Sony is milking all the Cows when it comes out with their 65nm Cell CPU too.
So you admit all 360s break down then right now ? also you know the ellite models wont have the chips. So typical MS fanboy buys console at launch 3 months later it breaks then buys ellite model 1 year later. 6 months later buys another ellite model with the chips in it. Now who is the Cow being milked. ?That is the day all the Sony fanboys cry since it means no more 360s breaking. Yeah technology gets better over time that's usually how it happens. If you want to have the best electronics you have to wait a few revisions to get it. I guess people forgot how bad the PS2 was until Sony fixed it over a few years.

lol.Is that the same thing as Sony releasing different PS2s over the last 5 years. I remember all the PS2s breaking down.
The new black ones don't use the 65nm yet so when exactly is it going to be used? So since MS said they'll eventually have the HD-DVD internal...... there's a guarunteed FIVE versions of the 360. Core, Premium, Black, 65nm, HD-DVD (and I still don't think they've started using the quieter DVD drives as planned).
I'll buy one as soon as the hideous power supply brick is internal, use quieter drives, and have finalized features.

PS2 did have its fair share of break downs. Thankfully that's not the case with the PS3. 360 on the other hand...as you pointed out what the 360 is doing as the PS2 did with releasing a Slim version later. Isn't the price suppose to remain same, or go down? Elite just proves that MS is milking the consumer with their "options". "Hey, look at us. It's MS with a NEW 360. Come and get it!" DS proved this point rather well with their reversions of the DS to DSLite. Milked. If Sony goes about this trend to released a new PS3 that's priced more, I have no more faith in the console makers anymore. I rather just see the games start flowing in, instead of a piss fest contest of hardware. "Ours can now do more!". I don't care anymore. Just give me my Gears of War content! Give me my Halo 3! Give me my MGS4!

The Xbox 360 is as you unknowingly admitted,a faulty piece of hardware. With 3 Xbox's out before May,it makes you wonder, just how many 360's are MS planning on releasing lol?

I believe for the last few months they have been using the quieter DVD drives. I read some where that they have been. If you got a new 360 in the last few months it should make less noise from the DVD drive. This fall they will use the 65nm chips in all 360s so if they are still making a core it will be using one too. As far as the external power supply goes I would rather have it outside if you can make the 360 even smaller say kind of like what Sony did with the PS2 except I doubt it could ever be that small.

I heard the first set of "elites" won't have the new chip. Is this true?CalmityDauntAnyone? The reason i ask is because my nephew is wanting a new system and i would let him have my 360 and get the elite, but only if the chip was upgraded etc.
[QUOTE="CalmityDaunt"]I heard the first set of "elites" won't have the new chip. Is this true?CalmityDauntAnyone? The reason i ask is because my nephew is wanting a new system and i would let him have my 360 and get the elite, but only if the chip was upgraded etc. the 65nm chip is planned for the fall of 2007. The Elites will not have them yet. That being said, there is no guarantee the 65nm chips will eliminate all the hardware problems the Xbox360 (at least the launch units) have had. I've heard reports of disc read errors and scratching. I'm pretty sure chips don't do that. All in all, if your nephew wants a new system, I'd go with the Elite. I think after 1.5 years, MS would have ironed out all hardware woes. (I seriously doubt this new batch of Elites is as errorprone as the original batch of launch units)
Why does the 360 overheat?
The explanation is easy. Due to the normal DVD drive it has to spin fast to read the data. This generates loud noise (4,4 Sone) and heat. It comes to a heat congestion in the console which leads to overheating of the GPU/CPU and to the known issue (hang-up). If this happens several times it will damage the GPU or CPU and the 360 will die.
The change to the 65nm spec is the right step in the right direction, but they need to think something about the DVD-Drive.
i would have thought the Xbox360 would have had 65nm by now- afterall they've replaced the DVD drives in them with new faster & quieter ones- but there's no point in rushing out to get an X360 with faster & quieter drives because u gotta wait for 65nm to be available- so thats reducing the demand right now.CwlHeddwynI think most casual consumers don't know that. All in all, I think the 65nm process will probably help with the heat problem but there's got to be something else MS can do to alleviate issues. Perhaps enhancing the cooling system? the 65nm process wasn't designed with the intent of enhancing reliability. It was designed with the intent to reduce manufacturing costs so if one waits until Fall 2007, there's a good chance you can get the Xbox360 at a price cut. I do believe the chip is planned for insertion into all models of the Xbox360 (not just the Elite)
Finally Microsoft have a possible fix for a major flaw that has senn them shell out millions for the repair and replacement of consoles and the major incovenience cause to its user base. How long did that take then?
By the way, this isn't a sad day for cows, it's a happy day for all true gamers.

You're right.
If I would want to buy one I would wait.
The same goes with the PS3.
I won't buy any of them till they have 65nm...
That's certainly one way to go about it. If price isn't a concern though, I wouldn't hold off on purchasing a console just because it doesn't have the cooler running 65nm chip in it. Incidentally, any word on when the PS3 is getting its 65nm chip?@ asmallchild

No. The production started beginning this year.
But I have no clue when the first PS3 with 65nm will ship. For me the purchase price doesn't matter.
But the power consumption of the consoles does.
360s 160W and PS3s 180W are much for a gaming console,
and with the new chip they will reduce it, and lower my bill ;)
ahhh I see I don't run my consoles as long as I used to with my older ones (I think I fried out my Xbox from abusive gameplay :)) so I haven't noticed how they affect the electric bill@ asmallchild
