Remember a few months ago when lems thought they were going to make it free because they removed the 12 month option?
Nah. They decided to charge you double instead 😅🤣😂😁

Going forward, new pricing will be 1-month for $10.99, 3-months for $29.99, and 6-months for $59.99, or your local market equivalent.
Wow, I am DEFINITELY not getting an Xbox now. Meanwhile MS doesn't charge PC players for online. Wth!!
$120 for 12 months ... yikes.
It's even worse when you can get 12-month cards of PS+ for like $30 right now.

And they announced it after Xbox Series X launched lol. Yea, PS+ is cheaper and way more value oriented.
@NathanDrakeSwag: Not a good thing for MS to do IMO.
That said, I never buy from MS directly for XBL as it is always more expensive than getting a 12 month card from Walmart or Costco (I can get 12 months at Walmart for $69.99 Canadian).
Not sure if it is going up in Canada (as that is a US news release), if it is, I will have to pick up some 12 month cards to delay me getting affected by the price increase
Basically pushing people toward gamepass its an obvious strategy to move more people over £10 live or £15 gamepass ultimate.
Well shit. That means PS Plus isn't far behind doing the same.
PlayStation when they hear the news.
Unfortunate for those who purchase the one month and three month subscriptions but honestly you were always much better off getting the one year cards anyway and this increase to the first two options just simply makes the one year option a much better value.
I wonder how lems are going to defend this.
I'm looking forward to @ProtossRushX's reaction lol. He called it weeks ago.
@Chutebox: I just read that the one month and three month went up by $1 and $5 respectively. I’m pretty sure it said that the six month and one year are still the same price.
@SolidGame_basic: Well message the cow who’s pathetic Alt it is and let’s watch the fake rage! Calling it now Protoss fake rage incoming
Form link...
So, what does this mean for you?
I'm good...
lol :P
@Chutebox: Ahh ok, just double checked and you’re right. The part that I was thinking of was that they said, “Existing 6 month and 12 month subscribers could still resubscribe for the current lower price.” Kind of odd there.
@ahrequenomori: Defend price rises? Not sure we need to. Price rises in subscription services suck but.....drumroll....every single subscription service goes up in price.
What will be interesting is to see how outraged the same Sony fans are when Sony inevitably announce a price hike.
Well shit. That means PS Plus isn't far behind doing the same.
That was my thought as well.
@bluestars: still is 3 months for a dollar in the states.
Just signed up

this is stupid thread effort even for him, I mean these are monthly creditcard prices, they always been more expensive, if you buy gold through cards for a year it's always way cheaper.
What is also not mentioned here , is that gamepass is basically free when you get gold, because everytime you renew gold (like for a year) , 1 month of gamepass will convert that year to ultimate.
Long story short, gold is like 60$, 1 month gamepass ultimate is 10$, that 70 $ for a year of gamepass and gold.
I really don't see the problem
Interestingly enough Microsoft is 5 games in February for Games with Gold. They are:
- Gears 5
- Resident Evil
- Lost Planet 2
- Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb
- Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition
I don’t know about the last two but Gears 5, Resident Evil, and Lost Planet 2 are all excellent offerings. Unfortunately for me I already have those. It’ll be interesting to see if this increase in games being offered continues onward.
@Chutebox:
LOL Says renew at Current pricing. So i dunno current means current as in today's pricing but tbh, I'm a GamePass Ultimate guy so again I'm good.

This is my reaction...
I still can't believe having to pay to play online is a thing
Especially when the console has absolutely nothing to do with the servers people actually play on. It's why PC will always be my main platform going forward. People say consoles are cheaper, but once you get past the additional bullshit costs like paying to play online, it's actually more expensive.
I wonder how lems are going to defend this.
They don't have to. Because if Xbox gets away with it, Sony follows suit. :-). But, keep thinking console is cheaper than PC.

They tried to back in the day, you know what happened? people stopped playing their games using their store and services, microsoft store/drm became the butt end of the joke.
On console your only way to evade the store is to not buy the console, but on PC forced subscription for online bs will never fly.
First world problem for console gamers. Except us PC gamers, we gonna play free🤩
Yup, all online gaming should be free. I've been reading that MS is likely doing this to push people towards Gamepass but this doesn't make the price hike any less ugly.
Game pass isn't sustainable, as much as Xbox fans refuse to admit that. It was only a matter of time before they made up the cost somehow.

I have a feeling the price of GP is going to rise sharply once its in full swing. Hope your butts are ready, lems!
@BenjaminBanklin: For sure it will rise like everything else. A sharp rise I don't think so. They already have Ultimate which is a higher tier where they will try to drive people to.
This move is just to push people for Gamepass and away from Gold, it won't affect anyone using the service or those renewing it, just new users.
It's bad optics because people like you will completely overreact while being completely OK with Sony increasing their price tag indiscriminately.
Me personally I would rather have them just kill Gold and offer current subscribers Gamepass for the remaining time.
And this is why I didn't buy for the first gen ever. You dolts that rushed to buy these new systems, which are junk, are forced to pay to play. Idiots, all of ya.
