XBL seems to be shitting the bed: Xbox Live is down, for the eighth time in as many days

Seems like XBL is having some serious trouble staying up for the last 8 or so days. XB1 reddit (Over 3000 comments) and gamefaqs is having a fit.

Pretty hard pill to shallow for lemmings when they have to pay for this shit service while having no games on the xbone.

Crapgamer redeemed? Time for MS to make it free?

Xbox just couldn't handle the rush of millions of new users connecting to XBL at once after the Arbiter reveal trailer for KI. Fighting game fans are starved for a new fighting game to rally around after SFV was a massive critical and commercial flop

Until XBL goes offline for 30+ days, it won't have taken the "shit the bed" trophy from Sony.

That being said, sucks it's still down, but eh...it weird that I haven't even felt it in any significant way. Then again, I haven't been trying to buy any thing, or download anything new. I have seen some unusual online check times though.

You mean because of the security breach? You do know that Sony took the server down to deny any further breach and not because the servers themselves were down right?

Must not be related to Netflix or Hulu since my wife and I have been watching it without issue all week.

Apparently people have been having trouble even watching blu ray movies because its technically an app. I have had almost no issues at all. The only thing that was down for me was the game store yesterday but I wasn't looking to buy anything. All my apps and games have worked fine.

Xbox Live is having hiccups recently because Microsoft are working on something game changing. It will be announced on their conference show on Feb 25th, I believe. When things are upgrading, moving and a shaking at a quick rate, you will experience hiccups here and there. But it will be smooth sailing in no time.

Think TC has shallowed a lot of pills before creating this topic.

You do know that it doesn't mater who took down the servers. The point being it was taken down and taken down for a significant amount of time but nice try at DCing.

thankfully I only had issues last night myself, basically my digital games wouldn't play while online so I selected SETTINGS>NETWORK>GO_OFFLINE and everything worked, then once in game and had a game running selected CONNECT TO XBOX LIVE and all my services kicked in again no problem... strange workaround but it worked nonetheless

and at least verified by another friend of mine

anyhow, given the consistency of their problems, I'm curious if this is strictly a network issue, or if they messed up during an OS update or something

I remember exactly why PSN went down. Your point? Why are you making excuses for Sony? Lack of security is/was a fault of theirs, even though / if the breach is done by a another party. That being said, it sucked, and Sony did what they had to do the fix the situation.

XBL going down (for whatever reason) is a bad look, but it isn't, and hasn't ever been, down completely or offline (iirc). But what if MS were having issues due to a 2nd or 3rd party? A hack of some sort? Would you be saying something different here? Giving them the benefit of the doubt?

The PSN hack was generation defining moment. Most people in this thread are trying to paint the picture that PSN and XBL have switched roles in the gen in terms of quality and maintenance, and that just isn't the case. Sure XBL has been having problems recently for some consecutive days now (again, a fact that have haven't really noticed over the course of that time), but for anyone to say that PSN in this current gen doesn't have its share of issues is just being intentionally ignorant.

For the record, PSN was down 3 times on 3 different days just last month.

No network is bulletproof, but these XBL issues are stretching out, that's for sure.

No, it doesn't. All that matters is that customers were without PSN service for a month period. No, it was directed at you for trying to justify the length of time PSN was down. I mean no matter how you slice it, PSN has been the inferior product when it comes to reliability compared to LIVE over the years. The last 2 months is not indicative of how LIVE has performed in the past.

Maybe, it could be storage, but whatever it is, it's taking enough time that they may want to offer up a free XBLG / time / something to users.

The only time I had trouble was yesterday, it took a while before I could watch netflix and even when i did, it kicked me off twice, but I've been on my Xbox for the last8 days straight at some point and never had problems. Idk what people could have been experiencing.

So I'm assuming going by the number of threads from PS fanboys about the XBL issues, that PSN never has issues then?

Riigghhttt, so PSN went down for 30 days to test stability...got it nice DC but we all know Sony's service was absolute shit last gen. PSN was always going down so yeah please don't repeat yourself....we don't need more DC on that issue

Yesterday was the first time I had a serious problem with XBL. In all these years I've been lucky I guess. I just hope that in the long run the service doesn't degenerate to Sony levels.

This impacted me a good deal until I figured out to put my xbox one offline as I couldn't access a good majority of my digital library.

As @kingtito said, it does matter why it went down, as customers were without service for an extended period of time.

At the same time though, XBL may be limited atm, but people are still using it for various other services that are as of yet, unaffected by the issues in play.

There is nothing funnier to me than seeing Playstation fanboys call Xbox Live a "shit service". Anybody who has both knows that Xbox Live is and always has been the superior online service.

If you are so insecure that you need to bash Xbox to make yourself feel like you bought the right console then there are valid criticisms you can make about Xbox and valid reasons to give for Playstation being better at some things, but when you try to bash Xbox Live and pretend that it is not clearly better than PSN, it's laughable and outs you as fanboy because nobody who is unbiased would every say such a ridiculous thing.

I don't understand why some people have an obsession with trying to prove that their console of choice is better in every single area. There is no console that is the best at everything; they all have their own advantages and disadvantages and one of the biggest advantages Xbox has always had is it's online service. Xbox Live is a major reason why many people choose to buy Xbox. It's ok that Playstation is weaker in this area; they have other advantages going for them, so you should focus on Playstation's real advantages and not make yourself look like a fool by trying to call one of the things that Xbox is most famous for, one of the things they led the way in revolutionizing, and one of it's biggest selling features, a "shit service". I love Nintendo the most of any of the console brands, but I will be the first to say that their online service is crap compared to Xbox Live. And as much as you want to try to deny it, PSN is also crap compared to Xbox Live.
