XBL: you can queue up to SIX (6) tasks to download, and go ahead doing ANYTHING on the 360 besides play online games (for obvious reasons). But it gets better folks! With the latest update, you can even TURN OFF YOUR 360 controller and console's main power and downloads will CONTINUE to go on (in the same fashion that the Wii is connected to the net using a miniscule amount of energy). When everything is completely downloaded, the 360 completely shuts itself off.

PSN: you can download a demo and navigate the PSN store at the same time. And that's about it.

(note and this XBL's MINOR update vs PSN's MAJOR update.)

Only Fanboys say PSN is better then XBL. That does not mean they can not prefer PSN since it is free over XBL. But to say PSN is better then XBL. Is kind of like saying Wii is more powerful then the PS3. Or PC costs 2000. Only blind fanboys say it

Uhm.. You can do anything but play games online when you backround dl stuff from PSN, not just "browse the PSN store" like you said.

Plus, 360 got this update 18 months after it came out. Whos to say that the PS3 wont have the same feature in the same amount of time?

And you can be sure Microsoft has some major stuff planned with E3 later this year, and their holiday blitz at the end of 2007. PSN HOME is pretty much Sony's last chance to be taken seriously.

Huh? 18 months from now? And even if that happens, how far ahead do you think XBL will be in the same 18 months?

Face it, PSN is a freaking joke in comparison. Features, content, usability, you name it.

The 360 was capable of queuing six downloads for background downloading only six months after the 360 launched. The most recent update only added the "idle download" feature where the 360 stays connected to finish its downloads, then automatically shuts off.

Too bad this is reality...

It took the PS2 about 30-32months after first launch to get online. XbL was 12months. How come we do not bring that up now? The reality is...The PS3 in 2007 has to compete with the 360 in 2007. Not the 360 in 2006. That is a game for fanboys now...Could I say the Xbox had a better first year line up then the PS2? Remember the PS2 came out many months in Japan before NA^^ And during that first year...No MGS...No GT...No FF...No DMC... Get it^^

No, PSN owns XBL becuase of being free (it's a factor for sure) and because of Home. 3D world >>>>>>>>>>>> boring walls of text.

Why are you so excited for Home? Let's put it another way: Do YOU want to browse the internet using a 3D avatar all of the time? Or do you MAYBE think that it would get really annoying to have to control an avatar after a while just to do the most menial tasks? And XBL is free unless you want to play online, and let's face it, most people don't like to and don't want to play online.

Think I'm joking? 140 million online-capable console owners at the end of 2005, and only 5 million of them were online. Even now, most online activity centers around downloading videos and arcade games, not online multiplayer.

Yes, but not online GAMEPLAY. The Marketplace and Arcade draw a much bigger audience than online multiplayer.

 you got to be kidding right ? this is your big reason why XBL > PSN ? is cause just NOW 18 months later after launch...... you can have your system shutdown after it finish's downloads ????  well F*** a doodle doo

Personally Its a useless feature because if I turn my 360 on its to play somthing & if I download somthing its to use it right after it finishes....  I wonder how many people are gonna que up the forza 2 demo and then turn there 360 off and come back 15 min's later to play it.... no one.  Why would you ? its a waste of time, and its wear and tear on your TV's Reciver's and audio equipment by turning it all on and off ( if you have a Logitech Harmony remote like me at least )

lots of people do.  when demos would come out, people would start it in the morning and check it out when the got home from work/school.  this means the console doesn't have to stay on, using max power to accomplish the same task.

every download isn't so quick to finish that people can or will just wait.

[QUOTE="e20Dylan"]home is going to overshadow XBL.. stop posting non senseOemenia

a perfect example of wishful thinking

Home is going to magically give them good games to play online too.

you have to give sony their dues..they're very clever. using a 3D layout for your online network while not improving the actually service with features that would improve on the gaming experience? genius

You pay $50, we pay $0...your service should be much better.

Kahuna_1

All of the new updates he mentioned do not require the Gold subscription.  Therefore, we pay $0, you pay $0.

With the PSN I can download videos and movies off the internet

ryder05
XBL already has most of the mostrelevant content available for download, and what isnt there I just get on my ps, which id rather use for surfing, And seeing as my 360 and pc are always connected they're almost one entity for me, and I just really like that. I have access to almost a 1000 hours of music at the touch of a button and hours of HD video. The PC60 is the way to go for the ultimate online experience, at least for me.

Uhm.. You can do anything but play games online when you backround dl stuff from PSN, not just "browse the PSN store" like you said.

Plus, 360 got this update 18 months after it came out. Whos to say that the PS3 wont have the same feature in the same amount of time?

mjarantilla

Huh? 18 months from now? And even if that happens, how far ahead do you think XBL will be in the same 18 months?

Face it, PSN is a freaking joke in comparison. Features, content, usability, you name it.

You pay $50, we pay $0...your service should be much better.

It IS much better. And XBL is free unless you want to play online, which most people don't.

Not true. There is some content that is exclusive to XBL Gold subscribers.

they are not equivalent. not yet.

They aren't even close. It's not just the major advantages, but also the small details that make everything about the blade interface AND online extremely pleasent to use.

Look, when you actually sit down with an Xbox 360 on a weekend (like I did last week), do a quick overview of everything on the 5 blades, download a bunch of demos and trailers, watch videos, all with a boatload of small tweaks used to streamline the experience, and then realise you haven't even begun to play ONLINE YET, then go back to clumsily bumping around that crappy XMB, watching debunked CG trailers from E3 2005 with nothing to play except rushed games like Motorstorm and dull FPS's like Resistance...

Then realise that the console that you paid $600 for is garbage. And NO, a shoddy ripoff shell of Second Life that's sure to be loaded with pricey addons isn't going to compensate for an actual online service with great content, features and usability.

Welcome to system wars where people talk about stuff with no facts and often no experience with the console they bash and logic has no foundation. Here you see the TC claim ownage over psn when you can use the browser to dl whatever you want along with all the free content on psn. You also see fanboys with no ps3's claim psn is slow when I dl sigma in less than 20 min.

Is live better only if you have gold and that is for multiplayer while psn is free imo live gold is not $50 better than psn. However I am sure that my opinion does not equal fact unlike some of the guys here.

YOU PAID $600 FOR YOUR CONSOLE. THE 360 COSTS $400. ADD $50 FOR ONLINE EVERY YEAR FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS, WITH FEATUES AND SERVICES THAT'S ALWAYS GOING TO BE AT LEAST A YEAR AHEAD, MANAGED BY THE BEST SOFTWARE GIANTS IN THE GAMING BUSINESS.

PSN IS BLOWN INTO SMITHEREENS. IT DOES NOT STACK UP. BY THE TIMEIT FINALLY MATCHES UP THE 720 WILL BE OUT.
