Well I never owned an xbox or a gamecube, but I do own a 360 which has a somewhat half-assed backwards compatibility I gotta say I never gave the original xbox enough credit. Halo 2 is very fun, Shenmue 2 is great, Jet Set radio future is awesome, Panzer dragoon plays nicely....until level 3

I also own a PS2 and a Dreamcast, while I think the dreamcast is a good console, I also think it's overrated

Obvious opinion thread.

Looking back I would put them in this order:

1. PS2

2. XBOX

3. Gamecube

4. Dreamcast

#1 = The Xbox had Fable, PGR, Halo 1&2, the DUKE controller and LIVE #2 = The Dreamcast had Powerstone #3 = The Gamecube had SSBM, RE4, and Zelda:TP #4 = The Ps2 had GoW and alot of RPG's not up to parr with the Ps1. And a DVD playerdmtkrispykremes

The Xbox is one of the worst consoles because it had about 3-4 good games, while the DC,GC and PS2 had many more games which were higher rated...The Gamecube had the most highly rated games last gen winning GOTY more times than any other console to ever have existed.

Here is a list of the best GC games. RE4,F-Zero GX, MP:1+2, Zelda:WW+TP, Mario:SS, Starwars:RS1+2, SSB:Melee, Eternal Darkness, Pikmin1+2, Super monkey Ball, Paper Mario, Luigis Mansion, Wave Race, Alien Hominid, Battalion Wars, Baten Kaitos1+2. All of these games recieved average reviews from around the world of 90%+.

All in all the consoles were fairly underwhelming last gen, most of the great games were either pc exclusive or ported down to consoles years later.

In hindsight, I'd rate them: Gamecube>Xbox>Dreamcast>Ps2

Even though I was surely on halo 2 the most, or the xbox in general, the gamecube has the most AAA CLASSICS, that I continually go back to--games that even out class the games coming out today. The Dreamcast had the most interesting games. Just some bizaar stuff. The whole modern sports era started on that system. Shenmue. Powerstone. VF3. Soul Calibur. Alot of great stuff that is even playable today. The Ps2, while still a good console, felt more like a glorified Dreamcast that was better supported, but was full of mostly cookie cutter software. Now I'm not saying it didn't have classics--Snake Eater is one of the best games/movie experience i've ever had--but most games have already been bettered on current platforms.

You make it sound like having God of War and a built in DVD player seem like a bad deal.....:roll:

Halo 1 was terrible...played it, used the disk as a cup holder at work.

IMO graphically its been proven in my post on this thread as Gamecube>Xbox>Dreamcast>Ps2 although it can be Ps2>Xbox>Gamecube>Dreamcast Game wise. Ps2 being the longest living and having the largest game library..giving Popurality and marketing in consideration as well (although marketing delivered by the companies should have put it as something like Xbox>Dreamcast>Ps2>Gamecube). Overall its obvious Xbox>Gamecube>Ps2>Dreamcast, generically speaking of course.;)

added: AA Games wise, of course its Xbox=Gamecube=Ps2=Dreamcast which is what makes this gen so interesting. Check out my blog for more details. If you want to look at last gen's war, its obviously Psone>N64>Saturn>Other, Psone being imo for obvious reasons the best and only good console by sony even if Saturn was technically more powerful in its cpu it would be like comparing Gamecube to Ps2 except back in the day. Technically though that gen is N64>Saturn>Psone while its gpu is N64>Psone>Saturn. N64 given consideration with its small data storages.

I do not agree with this at all. Gamecube is one of the worst consoles ever made. Not because of the console itself is bad, it is actually very powerful and had a comfortable controller, and was very stable. However, there were maybe 5 games on the entire system worth buying. I probably put in 100 hours total on the system. I would put PS2 up there close to the front, and Xbox wasn't bad, and Dreamcast was great, but didn't last long enough to get a huge library, unfortunately.
