Xbox 360 arcade vs 40GB Ps3

So now that a 40GB ps3 has been confirmed at a price tag of $400(i expect £300 max in UK) which I've heard is bundled with spiderman 3 and a new Xbox 360 arcade bundle has been reported at a price tag of $280 (£180 maybe? ) rumored to be bundled with a 256MB memory card and 5 arcade games (maybe 5 free arcade downloads or five pre-installed arcade games)and possibly a wireless controller as standard which do you think will convince more people to part with their cash this December and which would you yourself purchase?

the xbox 360 arcade is jsut the core.... who the hell buys the core???... on the otherhand the 40GB is the PS3 minus 2 usb ports, and memory stick slots....but stil HDD and all.... the newcore bundle is not ogign to beat the cheaper PS3

Most people I know don't even know what games are coming up and even what games are out right now. They all say they want a Playstation 3 because it's supposedly better then a 360. When I ask them which games they want for it they say stuff like: 'I don't know, I'll see when I buy it' or 'GTAIV, 360 doesn't have that'.

So, most people I know want a PS3. But like I said, they have no idea what they are talking about.

I would imagine that there are a ton of people that want a ps3 very badly but could not convince anyone to spend $500 +for it for them or they were waiting until it was $400 because lets face it , $500-$600 is a lot of money and it is hard to drop that kind of money. The ps2 is also running out of steam , so a lot more playstation fans will be ready to move on. I think there will be quite the holiday rush for a $400 ps3 this year. I am not sure about the arcade pack because the core hardly sells anyway right ? I am not sure what kind of impactthe changescould make.

The 360 in North America. The PS3 in more of Europe and Japan.

However, I think that both companies made bad moves in making so many SKUs, and that they keep making more and more bad moves by making so many more SKUs. It confuses the general audience, and helps make the Wii seem infinitely simpler and more appealing, especially to parents shopping this coming holiday.

Sadly because there is only 256mb of space, there goes half of the 360's features...Id go for something with a HD. Idk, but Id like to save more than 5 games =/. And I dont thinkreleasing with 5 "arcade games" will motivate me much to buy it...

Buy a 20-30 dollar 20 gig HDD off Ebay and you get a premium + the 256 mem card & 5 XBLA games all for 300.00 or so.

40 gig PS3 has built in HD-movie player and built in wi-fi. At 400, it is without a doubt the better deal. As HD tvs become more and more common in homes, having a console that doubles as an hd movie player is going to be more appealing to a casual market. And free wi-fi is a lot better than tripping over ethernet cables. A lot of people have their computer and router in a office or spare room (or not sitting right next to their tv in the living room, anyway).

There willprobably be a lot of parents who buy their kids 360s, cause it will be cheaper. But we're moving into an era where many parents grew up as gamers, and are a little smarter about gadgets and tech.
