Still a rumor but....."The latest? Apparently an email has come down informing Gamestop store managers to pull down any signage regarding the Xbox 360 core system, because once their current stock is gone there isn't going to be anymore. Seems like stores are preparing for the rumored new Core system, that comes with the 256MB memory card and wireless controllers."

The same reason why everyone uses "X system sucks". It draws people in to look. Take some marketing classes, then you will understand.

That doesnt really make it dicontinued...that's just stuff added on to it. Discontinuned was the 20 GB and 60 GB ps3 which backwards compatability. This was just adding stuff.

Does it really matter? Is the system even good without a hard drive? If not, what use is the Core system?

Not for people who already own a core. If this is true, then it's a clear sign that MS is going the way of "Harddrive required. Sorry Core buyers. You gotta go buy yourself a harddrive now."

hardly anyone bought the core, and those that did mostly bought a hdd anyway. The memory card is almost the same price folks.

I am sure he understood why he said it, yet i still thik even if he did'nt he should not have to take marketng classes What is TC marketing? His post? Why would someone market their post? The fact is that this is a rumour and event though the Core is indeed a ripoff i don't think MS would discontinue it after Halo , when they have probably just sold a tonne of them.

If true then good because it never should've existed in the first place. How is the HDD standard in the XBOX but not the 360?

Only a total newb would actually buy that system (core I mean). Your almost certainly gonna need a harddrive down the line, so why not get one right off the bat?

Then again, false advertising isn't the best way to get the respect of the viewers.

You and I don't know how many people bought the Core. Either way, it's a shaft to those who bought it. It's just the same concept with the PS3 and the Dualshock 3. Early adapters getting the shaft.

I wouldn't be surprised. They now have 4 SKUs on the market. The Core, the Premium, the Halo 3 LE 360 and the Elite. The one that needs to go is the Core IMO, while they need to go ahead and bring the Premium down to under $300.

Big ol' rumor!

But even if they are, it sounds like Microsoft is going to release an Core that comes with the memory card. Nothing to get up in arms about.

From what I heard, people have been buying those and premiums up by the bucket loads. On Halo 3 launch night, just about every Walmart in town sold out of Halo 3 LE 360s and Premium 360s. The Halo 3 LE 360 also costs $50 more than the Premium I think? MS should just go ahead and bundle the remaining Core units this holiday with 2 games and a memory card to get them sold, drop the Premium price to $300, the Halo 3 LE 360 price to $300 and the Elite price to $375. That would sell massive amounts of 360s IMO.

Agreed! I can't believe M$ ditched the HDD whereas it was built in with Xbox. M$ should discontinue Core 360 and make HDDs a must which will make better games...

Its already been discontinued here, in Vancouver, Canada.

I wanted one because Microsoft is refusing to repair my Xbox 360 getting the 3 flashing red lights, so it would be cheaper for me to just get the Core since I have all the accessories.

That's the point of getting the core though... Who in the hell would think they could go a whole gen without any storage medium. People by the core as a way to start their investment in the 360. Good move by Microsoft.

I think the Halo 3 one has HDMI, kind of like a bastard child of an Elite and a Premium.

Yeah the core was good for me when it launched, because we dont have alot of money and that was my christmas gift. Now most games need a HDD for online, not SP. The arcade ver looks like a great deal IMHO, 5 arcade games and a MC means its a really cheap SP gaming console.
