my xbox 360 broke and i want to know if the ps3 is worth getting at this time. it's ridiculous if you have to buy the same system again and again. they shouldn't die unless you treat them like crap. i know a lot of 360 owners can relate.rycerer
what exactly are you paying for anyway?you didnt even say how it broke you just said "IT BROKEN!BUY NEW ONE?BAD!"...which is bad.as for buying a PS3...not yet,at least i think you shouldnt.
well it died due to the video failing. whenever i turn it on there is audio but no video. i called support and my warranty is up so they told me that they would be charging $99 dollars in order to fix it.rycererA $99 problem is far from buying the same system over and over at $349.

it still shouldn't happen. that $99 could be gas money, rent, etc. i don't blame tc for getting fed of with crap products that don't work
@ tc if you want a ps3 get it. theres no guarantee that once you pay ms your 360 won't break again. as a matter of fact theres no proof that the 360 will ever stop being a pos. the only thing you miss out on is a few 360 games that won't come to the pc. the choice is up to you
[QUOTE="Shad0ki11"]The PS3 is definitely worth it. Don't ask questions.

Why exactly is the PS3 so good though?
It is the first console to introduce 5 gigabyte Installations.
Amazing thing isn't it?

Of course, it is fact. PS3 got MGS4, Resistance & 2, Motorstorm & 2, Killzone 2, GT5, LittleBigPlanet, Wipeout HD, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, better multi-platform games. Better controller. Better online - Why online is better on PSN? Because Xbox Live and PSN performs exactly the same, but WHY PAY FOR XBOX LIVE? So PSN is better.

3 year warranty only covers RROD... problem is the f'in 360 is choc full o' defecto parts.... so there are a ton of other problems that can occur, in which case M$ says.... "Screw You, send us some of your moneys..." because you know its our fault and all that MS cut corners when building the 360.... shame on us for buying their product...
[QUOTE="rycerer"] it's ridiculous if you have to buy the same system again and again.neogeo419Fail on your part if that's the case. They come with a 3 year warranty. Do whatever the heck ya want you are gonna get plenty of mixed responses here.
The 3 yr warranty is only for rrod. I found that out first hand.

Well said. It doesn't cover disc reading errors, continued freezing episodes, disc scratching problems, and a whole slew that 360 owners have to put up with.

Its probably just the AV in/out. 360 has no known AV problems and unless you are using a really, really, old TV then you should have no problems. I put my AV into a HDTV once and flipped the switch on the AV. When I brought it back to my small TV -(27")- the same thing happened and it took me a while to realise that I hadn't flipped the switch.
Test your AV on someone else's Xbox (Make sure the switch is flipped) if it works fine then take it back to yours and if it doesn't work then it is either the TV you have or a pin connection problem with your AV in port.
(I had RRoD once and the shop I bought my 360 from gave me a new unit, free of charge. If you have tried all the above and it still does not work then take it to the shop you bought it from and depending on the shop they will probably give you a new unit. Just keep your hardware.)
And if it comes to forking out 99$ then so be it. You will have to make up your mind about whether you want to fork out 600$ at the bare minimum to get a PS3 and then that 200-250$ to get all the accessories/games you want, after all if you have had your 360 for long and you have a decent collection then you might want to weigh that up against buying a whole new system and outfitting it again with games and the like. Or else just stick with the good old PC. Your call.

What? 360 has about 4 AAAAE's coming its way in the next year? No? Sorry, you must have missed something, troll. Get over MGS4. You had your moment of glory. Its over. This guy doesn't want a troll party he wants an unbiased opinion on whether he should spend 99$ to keep all his back catalogue and prestige from his Xbox or to spend 600$+ to get a system where he will have to start out anew and spend even more money to get games, controllers, peripherals, etc. He doesn't want Trolls and Lemmings stampeding his thread.

Choose the best answer.
A) Just wait
B) Just do it
C) Obey your thirst
D) Impossible is nothing.

Also, you could go on eBay and just buy a Core unit, without any extra hardware (maybe an AV cable if you are unsure) which usually go for 60-80$ off reputable eBay Stores and depending on where you live, will be delivered to your house/drop-off point within 5 days, if need be. It would be better than getting a repair as
-1: There are virtually no known AV Hardware problems with 360, and you could end up with an unrepaired console and have lost 99$.
-2: If you buy a unit, you are gauranteed a perfectly working 360. Just plug your hardware into it.
-3: With all those benefits and a maximum price of a unit being approx 100$, its alot safer than getting a repair for a previously undiagnosed problem.

How can a 3 year warranty be up already? Anyway $99 sounds cheaper than $400, but it sounds like you've already made up your mind since you've come to SW to vent about it.

That's funny. Mine broke and it didn't cost me a dime to get it fixed. In fact the whole repair process only took 2 weeks. I find it strange that you would use the phrase "buy the same system again and again". Maybe next time you should actually do some research before posting when you want to troll and make fakeboy statements. :)
Wait a minute, how the heck can his 3 year warranty be up already?Burnsmiesta
Good question. However, if this isn't a RRoD problem then the waranty wouldn't cover it anyway, IIRC.
