Let me present a few reasons on why i feel that the 360 would be a great choice over the ps3.  First and foremost in my opinion is the controller,  i feel that it is very ergonomical for ones hand, especially with shooting games, an example would be cod3 for 360 with the m1 garand bolt action rifle, when you pull the right trigger to shoot it really feels like a gun in your hand compared to the ps3 buttons,  i also feel that the rumble in a controller is extremely important for an overall gaming experience, when your hit with a bullet in ps3 and you dont die, you could assume that you got a little kick left in you and keep fighting and suicide, but when the 360 controller pulses along with the auditory heavy breathing from the soldier you know for sure that you need to get cover.

Also, I like the online functionality of xbox live, in my opinion it delivers a more constant gaming experience, with guaranteed voice chat, and truskill rankings, when i see that one of my friends has logged on to cod3, i put the disk in, press 2 buttons and i have instantly joined his exact game while in a private communication channel that wont end when the game does.  this feature is expanded to virtually all 360 games that you want to play online in.  also, i like the videomarketplace because when my girlfriend comes over, i have the option of just renting an hd movie for like 2.50$ and watch it, also it has an extremely large library of things to rent/buy.

My pc is my powerhouse, it holds all my music, all my videos, all my pictures, thousands and thousands of them, the 360 can stream all these files off my pc harddrive and i can access all the media on my pc through my 360 without taking up the 360's harddrive space

In terms of watching hd movies and owning them, i think that the external hd dvd player is a good idea.  one, its optional and only 199$. and two, it is external, this means that when i watch an hd movie i will not be taxing the disk lens that is in my 360,  i have gone through 4 ps2's in the last 7 years and i think this is partially because of all the dvd's i watched on my ps2  whereas the 360 provides a 2nd external drive to prolong longevity.

If you are worried that the 3 rings of death will fall upon you I would like to add that i am on my 2nd 360, a few months ago my xbox just wouldent read disks, the reason i am saying this is because the customer service was very helpful, i was under the 1 year warranty, and in 7 days i had a brand new 360 at no charge.

Finally, the games. a huge library spanning a large genre of games,  im not going to start an argument about mgs4, i think the last ones were great and i am looking foward to playing 4 on my 360.  I have a large hunch that it is going to the 360 because it is not first party sony.  Basically it comes down to the fact that alot of the 360's games are owned by 1st and 2nd party developers whereas sony has alot of 3rd party dev's making games.  this means that a 360 exclusive will never ever be on a ps3 but a ps3 exclusive from a 3rd party dev "can" be on 360, this is seen most recently in dmc4, and gtaiv.  The loyalty of 3rd party developers has nothing to do with the company they are making the game for, they want to put their game in as many homes as possible and sell the most copies.  they dont want to make a game exclusive to ps3 and loss out on a potential profit of 10 million more games sold.  this is just logic with econ 101

I hope this helps you out, seriously get a 360 and enjoy everything it has to offer, the xbox live is definately worth 4$ a month, the controller is fantastic, and the games that you can get for the 360 will be the best games for us shooter fans  Halo 3, Half life OJ box, turok

If you do get a 360, add me to your friend list  im crazyivaniv and we can tear up france in cod3

This is a defintion of a fanboy to me. Someone who persuade people to buy their preferred system. It's not the silly threads, bias opinions, or troll-a-thon. It's the ones who has the need to make people like what they like.

Have you ever even played the PS3?

I played all the systems before deciding, and guess which one I didn't pick.

Hint: I've seen it get red lights in retail stores.

Feels like a real trigger compaired to a ps3. Sounds like your saying the xbox360 controller feels like a real gun trigger and the ps3 doesnt. Sorry friend but you must have only played with guns from a toystore.

The Xbox Live experience is not $4 a month. That's like watching a car advertisement and saying "Wow-zee, this commercial here says I can get a Nissan Altima for $58 a month!" 4 years=$200. That is an unavoidable figure, and something that should weigh heavily on your decision.

Additionally, the ergonomics dispute is negligible. I've been using the Playstation/Dualshock controller for perhaps a decade+ now, and as comfy and accessible as the 360 controller may be, I must submit that there is nothing wrong with the Sixaxis. Familiarity is a certain kind of comfort...not to imply in any way that the Dualshock was a bad design. It was one of the greatest, and I have no problem using it for the next five generations.

Also, where ergonomics is concerned, I have an internal battery pack...meaning that I do not have a big box on the back of my controller where my hands should be able to comfortably roam around.

Additionally, if you're on your second Xbox 360, let me tell you that I am on my first PS3, and don't ever expect to get another one. If I do, I'm done. That's it. I'll never say a good word about the stupid thing again. But until that day, hey, I'm fine. Even where my 1 year, completely free warranty from Sony is concerned. I would NEVER vouch for a system that fell within the one-year warranty, free or not.

Disc-scratching is no concern with the PS3, from movies, to games. The Blu Ray disc is practically indestructable. Even if there were an engineering problem, it literally would not matter.

Additionally, I can play Blu Ray discs. How's that grab ya? The $200 you're spending on the Xbox Live experience grants me something entirely different, the capacity to play HD movies internally. How's an Xbox 360 look with an external power brick, an external battery charger, and an external HD-DVD player?

I get 40 gigs extra hard drive space on top of all of that.

I would also like you to know that Sony has the largest first-party development in the games industry. That's right, THE largest. Priority over Microsoft AND Nintendo. Metal Gear and Final Fantasy are just pudding on top of that. And, frankly, until Kojima and Square-Enix tell you you're getting those games, you're not. So they are not your vantage. They are mine.

So u trying to compare a little rumble for gunplay in a game and u say it feels like real life, lol. Man a 9mm packs a good punch and the rumble in a control doesnt even come close to realism. Anyways u have your opinion, and im not gonna go against it, just thought u kind of went a lil overboard wit the gun thing but its all good.

The Sixaxis is creating games. Warhawk and Lair are built around motion sensing functionality, whereas no game is created to utilize the new-spangled "rumble" invention in the 360 controller.

360 cant even handle ps3 games like lair. so everyone says. all that streaming textures mumbo jumbo, sounds like it will be sick.

3 years from now there will be a new xbox 3 anyway, microsoft just wants all your money... all of it!

I like the 360 and all...but you give 360 fans a bad name.

And no, it does not feel like you're firing a REAL gun...if it did you would probably wear out your shoulder after playing any shooting game in about an hour.

Why/how is Sixaxis a failure? Is rumble so wonderful? Does it make your life different? Here's the real questions: What has rumble created? What games has this feature directly spawned? What, as Julian Eggebrecht, CEO of Factor 5 said, "sealed the deal," to create a particular game for the rumble feature?

I haven't played them, but they exist. Does that make them any less a byproduct of the Sixaxis? I wasn't really praising either of those two games. I was praising the Sixaxis. And until you confront the issue of the controller itself, you don't even really have an argument. "Biggest failure." Okay. That's not an argument, man.
