Xbox 360 now significantly overpriced

I'm going with UK prices here...

PS3 40 GB = £284.99 delivered on Amazon.co.uk

Xbox 360 Elite= £249.99 delivered at Amazon.co.uk

I use PS3 in my bedroom and as such require wireless connection, this is included in the PS3, for the Xbox360 price on Amazon is £54.98. Xbox360 total is now £304.97. Xbox comes with a dirt cheap DVD drive, Ps3 comes with a Blue-Ray drive. Microsoft was selling the HDDVD addon for about £100 without any films (you could pay a bit more and get a 3 film pack). Total for xbox360 is now £404.97. If you want to pay online it will cost you £50 a year on the Xbox360, it is free on PS3. Xbox360 total now £454.97 (including first year of live).yes the Elite has a bigger HDD, but then the PS3 can be upgraded by the user (with commodity HDD's) to huge capacity, this is not possibly with the Xbox360. So IMO it is the Xbox360 that is very much over priced currently. To offer good value compared to the PS3 the elite needs to see in the UK for £200 maximum.

Also; you'll get flamed for adding things like HD-DVD players and online prices. Is that fair? Do people need HD-DVD players to play games? You cant just take the PS3 and add-on everything it contains to other systems. Who says we need all that stuff?

Far fewer than use simple cables. And again, why use the most expensive adapter available? Why not buy any one of the plethora of cheap third-party adapters?

I think the TC has made a mistake, he meant to write underpirced obviosuly, since the Elite costs less than the 40GB PS3 model, and has full BC, unlike the PS3, and a 120GB HDD insteal of a 40GB !!!!

BTW in Europe the ONLY choice you have is pay for a 40GB overpirced PS3, to play ALL 360 games, you only need a 199 euro xbox core, that STILL has full BC if you add a HDD

The idea of shopping for a product is to go with the cheapest price, not the most expensive. £50 for XBL? £100 for HDDVD?

But the pro is white. So now you have to replace your enterainment center and every other component in it to white versions costing aroun $3495. My god the 360 is expensive.

Seriously though, these threads are getting old. If blu-ray is important to you, then yes, PS3 is a good value. Yes, some of the 360 optional add on's are expensive, but they are optional and even if you do want them, you don't have to buy them from Microsoft. I got a wireless adapter for behind my entertainment center that lets me hook up the 360, my Directv HDDVR, my HD-DVD player, and my stereo receiver all into the one adapter. I'm pretty sure it was less than $50 on Amazon.

No, it's about £35 for a year. I can't find a single online retailer selling Xbox Live for over £40.

HDDVD player is about £30-40

and you can get a xbox 360 premium for £180 which is £100 less than the ps3

the scratching of discs on the 360 has nothing to do with the fact its a tray drive it has every thing to do with the fact it was manufactured wrong.

Slot loading disc systems are nortorious for scratching discs this is a simple historical fact trying to make out they are the superior design is flawed.
