Xbox 360 Sales Up 40% in UK After Price Cut

Over the weekend the Xbox 360 saw an impressive 40% sales spike in the UK following a European price cut. The spike comes just as Sony prepares for another PS3 retail offering with the GT5: Prologue Bundle. According to Chart-Track, despite the Xbox 360 hardware boost, the software sales did not see an increase, but the company dismissed that because of the strong showing the previous week by Army of Two and Bully.

Chart-Track also reports that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games returned to the top spot in the software sales. Seriously, people, tell grandma to stop buying this game and end the madness.

All this does is force Sony to lower their prices. Lulz, they're going to go bankrupt from lack of profits or drop out of the console race at this rate :P

A price drop will increase sales on any product, but yeah, this is great news for MS, they could be successful in the US and UK and Japan won't even matter.

honestly IMO most of the sales are up coz of **** load of advertisment and not just price cut

Yeah exactly, it's all fine and dandy saying this has happened in a week, but you could advertise that you cut the price of a DVD player by 20% and most people in the market for a DVD player will see the adverts for that one and buy it over other options, just because the TV makes it look good.

I know that. There was a price-drop in Europe as a whole though and this could mean better sales everywhere else.

Great, a price reduction, only a few months after I bought my 360, damn. :(

not surprised considering almost every bus i saw today had 360 ad, then at job at break time i read newspaper and yup 360 ad....then after the break i start teh work while listening to radio....and 360 ad comes up on radio at least 5 times in 3-4 hours.....mingo123
