Xbox 360 Vs. PS3: Past, present, and future.

Judging by what goes on in this forum, the Xbox 360 seems to be living off the past, ignoring the present, and oblvious of the future. Let's take a look.

PAST--Advantage Xbox 360

2005: it had the playground all by itself.

2006: The PS3 just came out of the video game womb, with negative press for a blanket. The press pounced on the PS3's price, inferior exlusives and multiplats. What's bad for the PS3 must be good for the 360, it seemed.

2007: Another wonderful year. exlusives and multiplats looked and played better than the PS3, which was barely learning to walk.

PRESENT--Advantage PS3

2008: A very bad year for Xbox 360. It's a time when a man sees his hair graying, his head balding. Wrinkles are starting to appear. Let's take a look:

1) Big exclusives. Advantage PS3: PS3 has produced the best baseball game (MLB 2008: The Show), the most photorealistic racer (GT5p), and the most advanced game ever made (MGS4). What has the 360 produced? Flops. Ninja Gaiden 2 was a flop.Too Human seems too awful. It flops, too.

2) Multiplats. Advantage PS3. Burnout Paradise, Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto 4 (IGN.com, Gamerankings.com), Soul Calibor 4. All better on the PS3. Sooner, the PS3 will get the superior version of Bioshock and Eternal Sonata.

3) PSN now has trophies and in-game XMB. Oline gaming on the PS3 is now arguably better than on the 360, especially considering PSN is free.

4) The press is beginning to see the PS3 for what it is: an excellent gaming console and an excellent Blu-ray player. Arstechnica re-review the PS3 and gave it a solid 9. http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/playstation-3-blu-ray.ars

5) Blu-ray won the format war, and now Best Buy and other electronic stores will emphasize Blu-ray this holiday season. You can't say Blu-ray without thinking about the PS3. Really.

6) It's becoming clearer and clearer the PS3 is becoming the home of the biggest and most advanced games: games with the best graphics and sounds and the largest multiplayer sizes.

7) The 3 year fix-it-for-free warranty for Red Ring of Death ends. Time to pay up for choosing the wrong console.

8 ) PS3 outsold the 360 every month on a world-wide basis.

Considering what has happened to the PS3, 2008 is indeed the year of the PS3. Sure, while the 360 still has Gears 2 and Fable 2 this holidays, it is unlikely the 360 will end the 2008 with a good year, not when the PS3 has achieved so much and with Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, and Motocross 2, and SOCOM to come.

FUTURE--Big advantage PS3

Let's take a look at what's likely to happen:

2009: The PS3's hardware will make the 360 looking more and more dated.

1) RAGE, Killzone 2, Final Fantasy 13, Final Fantasy 13 Versus, Infamous, Heavy Rain will all show the limitations of the 360--last-gen DVD, weaker CPU, and no standard Hard-disk drive.

2) HD movies and Blu-ray movies become mainstream. PS3 owners get to watch Blu-ray movies with their girl friends. Yeah. It IS an advantage.

3) PSN, with the arrival of HOME, makes LIVE an over priced, rip-your-customer-if-you can service. The best online innovations are on PSN, not LIVE. Gamers continue to play and make creative contents with Little Big Planet. Others get to experience the joys of large mulltiplayer shooter games. LIVE users? Well, they get to read the joys of playing and creating a game like Little Big Planet. Also, they can only read about what it's like to play 60 players online or better yet 256 players online in good looking shooter games.

4) The PS3 continues to outsell the 360 everwhere.

2010-2011: PS3 70 million units sold. Xbox 360, 40 million. Xbox 360 loses the console war. http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=211207.If this link isn't enough, read what most analysts say about world wide install base by the end of this generation. Do a Google search.

So, I ask you. Given the choice to own only one console from now till 2012, which console do you want: PS3 or 360? Yes, that's right. PS3. Console war debate is over.

Eh.. I think you might be looking at this slightly bias..

1,2,3,4 and 6 in present are all quite debatable.

Future is.. the future.

PSN now has trophies and in-game XMB. Online gaming on the PS3 is now arguably better on than the 360, especially considering PSN is free. Correct me if im wrong but achievments and in-game xmb come with no xbox live or atleast silver which is free. I will agree to some people that PSN is better because it is free and they dont want to pay the yearly fee but dont use that as back up.

PS3 outsold the 360 every month on a world-wide basis. So far it has out sold it except for two months if i am not mistaken. The 2 months the xbox 360 won were by a very small margin but it is still not EVERY month. Motocross 2. Its Motorstorm: Pacific Rift and Socom 2. Pal this isnt 2003 it is socom confrontation.

but like that other guy said,alot of that seemed kinda bias

but ether way its been a great year for the ps3 (their first great year so far)

i think everyone can agree with that

but i think the 360 still has a chance to take this year as well

In no way was NGII a bad game. That game is the definition of hardcore gaming IMO.

well considering the 360 is very likely gunna outsell the original xbox that is a nice future

whereas the ps3 wont outsell the ps1/ps2 so a tainted future in that regard

How many consoles sold last generation? OVER A HUNDRED MILLION. And analysts are saying that this year way more poeple will be buying consoles. This has been going on for a while yet most consumers still have not jumped to this gen yet.

The only reason the 360 is winning is becuase it came out first. thats all there is too it.

If you look at it from the outside looking in (meaning from a non-gamer and from someone with a lil since) I thing a lot of what he said is true. This year, the PS3 is killing/beating the 360 in sales, with the Holiday movies sales, Bestbuy will push blu-ray movies, which could push PS3's out the door. There's a little bit of thruth behing that, but, if you'd have let down you bias and put it in other words, it would had be better. You must still give the credit to the 360 which is, a really good console. If you don't people will don't take ou seriously and automatically see you as a sony fanboy.

Still, the PS3 is gonna get over the 360, but it could take 2-3 years...

I always think it is really funny when people just start spewing out inaccurate facts. Too Human is not even out yet and people are already calling it horrible. More specifically, PS3 Fanboys are calling it horrible. RAGE is on both systems, so that should not be counted as a system seller. I think the PS3 and the Xbox are both great, but the Xbox just has better games and continues to have better games. Sony may have a few tricks up its sleeve, though...

Things I've learned from Sihanouk in SW:

1. The best use for a Time Machine is to play future PS3 games, then use those experiences to combat the 360 in SW... rather than, say, going back in time to kill Hitler
2. The Wii doesn't exist when talking sales... but somehow the PC exists when talking exclusives.
3. The good people at Oxford Dictionaries apparently have confused their definition of the "facts" for that of the word "opinion."
4. When any website, anywhere, gives the advantage to a PS3 multiplat it becomes a universal fact (see above), in spite of overwhelming sentiment on their equality.
5. Trumpeting the success of MGS4 day after day is not ill advised, and does not in fact highlight that the PS3 is essentially a very expensive MGS4 delivery device.

After reading the responses from obvious fanboys, I am so glad I made the mod-approved thread about Xbox's stages of grief. I am not paid by Sony nor do I want to work for Sony. They won't pay me enough. I just like get a few things of my chest from time to time. I come to System Wars mostly to catch up on the latest news and gamer reactions. However, I genuinely feel the PS3 hasn't been given the credit it deserves. Fanboys are still in denial or falsely malign the PS3. If I sense the following credits are given to the PS3, there would be no motivation for me to get anything off my chest. So what credits should be given to the PS3?:

1) It is a more powerful console. The PS3 has biggest ( size of game contents, multiplayer, bosses) and most advanced games (the technologies used to make graphics, sounds, physics, animation, etc.).

2) Blu-ray, Cell, and standard HDD all make the PS3 more future proof as games get bigger and more advanced.

3) Blu-ray movies are a big asset for the PS3. And yes, PS3 owners will have the advantage over 360 owners when it comes to watching movies with their girlfriends.

4) Analysts had, has, and most likely will say the PS3 will outsell the 360 this generation.

5) Multiplats in 2008 have so far been better on the PS3.

6) Exclusive games in 2008 have so far been better on the PS3.

7)PSN is catching up pretty fast to LIVE this year, with the arrival of in-game XMB and Trophies, plus Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, and HOME Beta to come.

8) In light of all the above, the PS3 should have a better future than the 360-- both in terms of install base and in terms of games.

Now you can call me a fanboy all you want. But if you are a person of integrity and are decent enough to give credits where credits are due, then ALL 8 credits I listed above should be given to the PS3. So, before you start calling me a fanboy, look into the mirror, read your own writings and see if you are man enough to hold yourself to the same standards you hold me.
