Seriously. Its a usb wifi lan adapter. Is the orange/green light the reason for this mark up? Is it the nifty 360 grey plastic antenna? Anyone?

Agreed. You can get a wireless adapter for less than half of that for a PC, and it's included with the Wii and PS3.

True. But you don't need to buy it. The old Xbox wifi adapter works as does probably any USB-wifi adapter. All of which are worth $30-$40.

Seeing as the Xbox 1 adapter still works with the 360....but yeah. It is a ripoff.

I've tried a third-party wifi adapter and it never worked for me...

Well they are charging 500 dollars for a phone that costs between 150-200 dollars to make, but thats beside the point. My best guess is that since MS is losing money on the 360 itself, they're trying to recoup their losses on the accessories (99 bucks for the adapter, 50 bucks for a controller that costs 15-20 dollars to make.)

No joke.  That and having to pay to play games on XBL.  They should have made Silver so all you can do is play games and have just a couple of the basic features (like a friend list).  Gold should give you all the other stuff.

Since someone brought Apple into the argument:

They charge $99 for a leather Ipod case.  Now THAT is the biggest rip off of the 21st century.

I'm sorry while the adapter is a rip-off XBL is well worth twice the price I pay for it. The whole set up is beautiful. Seriously the fact that they created such a standard nearly brings a tear to my eye. 50$ a year for seamless gaming bliss with your friends and fellow gamers. I am sorry XBL has no peer.

Since someone brought leather into the arguement:

Have you ever stepped into a Louie Vutton store?! I'd call it a rip off but word would spread and no woman would ever talk to me again.

I'm not calling it a rip off.  Maybe I should have said that, considering the topic title. :P

I just think you should be able to play the games online for free instead of giving you all the features for free.  They should make you pay for the features and let you play the games.

Any knowledgable Lemming could buy a wireless bridge for about $40 instead of plopping down a Benjamin.

I agree. I wish it was cheaper, and $100 is a huge ripoff.

I have a better idea. Since none of us will ever get to see the social security we pay for and people like me who are career military will never get it against our retirement even if it does managed to survive why don't we simply ask our government to put that money to use to pay for XBL so I can go into old age a happy man. Seriously though I see your point sometimes I think we pay that money to provide salaries for the people who are constantly trying to find new ways to leech money out of us for every little thing on XBL.
