I'm not talking about capacity limitation, which still has to prove it's usefulness on games (at least fill them with cgi or something!), maybe in the future at the end of the gen someone will figure out how to use the capacity in some creating way (I hope). The real problem with the 360's drive it's speed. It makes the 360 loud and worst of all very supsetible to disk scratching! The blu-ray with it's much slower rpm (and still transfer speeds are similar in 4x to the 12x dvd drive, although a bit slower), makes it quiet, and Blu-rays have anti scratch coating. Also linear trasnfer speed it's much better than angular, specially for developers (even though developers are already used to angular speeds) and constant streaming games (great example is Uncharted) as it doesn't matter where the data is stored on the disk as transfer speeds won't be affected.

All jasper 360s are super quiet and its also quiet if you install the game onto ur harddrive.

Even if u dont do both, its not that bad.

What boggles my mind is I can go pick up any DVD drive at my local electronics store for $20 and not worry about it scratching my disks, being loud, or any of the other common complaints you here about it. I don't understand how hard it is for MS to fix that.

That's why the new install feature on NXE is good. Faster loading from HDD and less strain on drive.

The thing that makes the 360 louder is the two small fans located at the back of the console with very high RPM. They should have just put in 2 120mm fans and have them spin at 1000 to 1200 RPM but then the case would have to be bigger.

...You're getting the disc-drive confused with the two cooling units of the console. How did you do this?

No, it's the drive that makes the noise. I am sure.

Start a game and it gets loader but fans feel the same, try it.

Scratching disks it's a big deal, with many people being affected and there was even a law suit. Install full games on a 360, all your games? That will be expensive. Specially with the not standard Hard drives MS charges for

Don't blu ray discs have that anti-scratch coating, because they were too easy to scratch?:?

I don't think so, but the anti-scratch coating either way is genius. I ended up buying a second copy of SSBB for the Wii because my first one died due to a small scratch so I appreciate that benefit to blu-rays a lot more. I also buy and sell a lot on Ebay and the nice thing about PS3 games is they always look brand new.

Yes. The started with a case, like MDs. But even if they where like cds or dvds, the lower rpms would make the disks less likely to scratch with movement.

Well. He's technicaly right. Before finalized, BD was supposed to come on cartriges. Still, it's irrelevant, as BD finally came with a anti scratch coating which makes the a lot stronger than CDs and DVDs
