Microsoft has been quietly rolling out a revised 360 DVD drive that some users say is quieter and loads data faster. The drives, manufactured by BenQ-LiteOn-Phillips, replace the previous versions, which were manufactured by Toshiba and Hitachi. The new drives entered production lines in November 2006. Of course, there's still that fan noise, but let's take things one step at a time.

Still nowhere near the silence of the PS3 since the fan is the same, but it's a start. Too bad for current owners though... kind of stuck with the early models.
