4,000 people is a rather tiny cross-section of 360 owners...D0013ER
No it's not, that represents every 360 owner on the planet. Don't you know such obvious things?
( :| :? )
Don't believe all rumors, all stuff you read on internet is not true :Paroxx_ab
In the words of ryan davis: We aren't wikipedia, we can't agree on a lie and call it truth!
well if your a hardcore gamer that plays 24/7 don't expect your console to last 4 years, if your a casual gamer and play 1-5 times a week then you'll be fineHeartagram_03
What's the point of having a console if you're going to be playing 5 hours a week, that's rediculous, even for a Wii.
I've had mine for almost a year and a half and nothing bad's happened yet... I must be doing something wrongSpaceMatt
Please don't deny it. They'll never fix it if people don't scream out load about it. Mine works (1+ year) but out of 100 people on my friends list atleast 20 had them break (including my neighbour who bought it at the same store 2 weeks before me). Not all the red lights, some had constant dre's too. I was hoping we passed the point of sticking your head in the sand.
Seems like people are having difficulties grasping this concept.
The survey is unscientific, since unsatsified Xbox 360 owners would be more motivated to respond than satisfied owners.
In no way does it suggest what the actual failure rate is. That it is too high is no secret though.

Funny, I know of a person who had his PS3 running at load for 45 days before encountering problems. Pretty funny considering people were saying how sucky the PS2 hardware was last gen.

Well, the title of this thread doesn't really sound serious, but it is quite clear that the 360 has hardware problems. Compare European commission to investigate Xbox 360 problems thread for example.

Im not a hardcore gamer either. Life responsibilities keep me from holding all day game sessions like I did when i was in junior high or when I was unemployed and single. As a result, I haven't had a problem with my 360 either. I keep it in an open environment, along with the Flail head sized power supply and I've only had one problem that I can recall to date in the past 6 months of playing.

Now, nowhere did I state that there has never been a 360 anywhere that has had a hardware failure. In fact, my roommate's 360 broke. While he was moving it around with a disk in the tray, with the system turned on and running that game.
I was, however, poking fun at the 60-ish percent failure rate cited in that article. Do you honestly believe over 60% of Xbox 360s have failed? And, since according to that article my 360 would be in the minority (having not failed), I think I would be allowed to sarcastically note that I must be doing something wrong to have one without problems when so many others are experiencing trouble.
Really, elcoholic, that post of yours was entirely uncalled for. It's fine to say that Microsoft has problems with their consoles (after all, my launch Xbox 1 crashed and burned due to a faulty DVD drive and/or faulty hard drive), but it's quite another to resort to personal attacks when someone criticizes a clearly outrageous article (60+ percent failure rate my rear end).

I hear ya but... I dunno about the validity of all these claims - if it is indeed as bad as has been said here on S.W then I'm sure the BBB would or will be all over a company as big as MS. Time will tell ;)Antidotal as it may be; I have three in my home and none have givin me a prob. and one is a launch so...Just saying.
Since eBay was used as ownage for when the PS3 wasn't selling lets use it as ownage again. Go and take a quick look on eBay to see how many broken Wiis, PS3s and 360s there are on there. Do a ratio to the total number sold worldwide and you will see that the 360 has the highest ratio of broken machines for sale on ebay.
If ebay was an infallable source of ownage in the past you can't refute that now. A quick search of each system shows quite a few broken 360s and not too many broken Wiis or PS3s.
This lot of 4 broken is my favorite I found so far.

Not really. I use my PS3 for folding and watching blu-ray when not being used for games. I have never had a problem ever. Even if I ran a PS3, 360 or Wii 24/7 for a year strait I would expect it to still work. The 360 in its first year wasn't exactly cranking out games like it is now and they were failing back then too. Lets face it the 360 isn't reliable and I won't get one until it is proven to be moreso. Even the elite has suffered 3 rings. Thats pretty poor for a revision not to fix past problems.

Again you are making assumptions based on what clearly is a bashing technique being used to stifle 360 sales so the others can gain ground. As I stated before; If this is truly epidemic then you know the lawyers are only too willing to go after the likes of MS I mean cmon lmao ;)

MS has some of the best lawyers around and they still extended the warranty on 2 occasions. If that doesn't suggest there is a problem I dont know what does.
As for the first sentence in you response I dont know what you are talking about.

Sorry bud, did not mean you were doing the bashing. What I refered to was this in secant attack on 360 for failure by the anti MS S.W. boyz !My guess is; Ebay is not the reliable source on this subject but the damage that many would like to do to MS is reason enough to wonder why has no giant law suits gone through if a MS product truly was so craptastic?
Does'nt add up and therefore I'm suspect of the raw info - k ;)
I love all of the denial in here. Lemmings, isn;t there an entire sticky devoted to troubled 360 units? Don;t we all know someone who has had their 360 die? I know three 360 owners very well and each has had to replace their console at least once.
No one is saying EVERY 360 is going bad. Just enough for there to be a problem.

Yes forget details you should continue to make outrageous statements bashing other members with no information because someone made a statement regarding the system you own. There have been many of these polls and all of them said the same thing. The 360 is unreliable at this point. Hopefully it wont in the future which is when I will buy one.

This survey accounts for an approx 0.004% failure rate. You would need 100,000 units to fail to even hit a 1% failure rate. And that is NOTHING.
So no, hardly a problem, just people making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Thanks for clearing that up by quoting yourself with a 0.004% failure rate that you got by not reading the article and assuming that 4500 people reported failures in the whole world.
