Xbox 720 a 'very hot, compelling device' says GameStop

GameStop CEO Paul Raines is optimistic about the still-unannounced Xbox 720. Speaking with Games Industry International, the executive said the platform will draw the attention of gamers worldwide when Microsoft decides to announce it.

"We've been spending a lot of time with Microsoft, but we have to let them take the lead on this, but it will be a very hot, compelling device," Raines said. "They are doing some really cool stuff, and I'm eager to hear them start their announcements because I think the world is going to stand up and take notice."

The good news is that if GameStop is making positive comments about next box and has been talking with MS they are probably not going to block used games. Another thing I take away from this new information is that :lol: even GameStop is calling MS's next gen console 720...even after having direct contact with MS so is that name actually going to stick now???

Perhaps, or perhaps MS put a little cushion in the VP's pocket for a some positive PR as there has been none as of late.  In any case if MS is having conversations with GS it's a good thing because maybe they can talk some sense into them and tell them what a failure move trying to block used games would be.

You are underestimating Microsoft this is the same company that recently started charging a yearly fee for Office, and made the normal office release installable once so it is pretty much useless for most. Expect the same rubbish from the 720, yearly Live fees which will have all your games tied to your Microsoft account like how Office currently works.

Like I said, having talks with GameStop is a good thing.  I am sure they are having discussions related to that matter and maybe just maybe MS might abandon those ideas if they have them if GameStop convinces them that they would lose more money than they make by making that kind of move.

Look at how much Killzone 3 was hyped, then look at its sales LOL

this is the confirmation that it will play used games because the little hate Gamesop had toward it was because they thought M$ was going to block them. But now that they know that is not the case then they started to promote it just like they did with the PS4 last week.
