Xbox boss doesn’t believe Sony is “doing a better job” shipping more exclusives

Comparison’s between the output of Xbox and PlayStation when it comes to exclusive games have been happening since the dawn of consoles, and will continue to happen. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer, however, believes Microsoft has been doing a better job at this recently.

Speaking to GamesIndustry, Spencer said he’s very proud of the games shown at the company’s E3 presser.

What he trying to say that console is not about exclusive but about cross play xbox and pc. He means that all xbox owners who bought xbox knew that xbox was never about exclusive games and it was more about just console where you can watch movie, surf youtube and play some shooter games.

Sony did not give dates for most everything they showed.

We don't need even list. Microsoft said that all upcoming Xbox One games will be released to PC.

They want Xbox to be cheaper version of PC. So when you gonna buy 400 dollar PC then Microsoft wants you to buy cheaper Xbox to play those games on Xbox. You don't have much money but wanna play Halo or gears? buy xbox. You have more money and wanna play Halo or gears? buy PC

This will be good for them in Japan and other markets were theyre weak in sales. Microsoft might not have a good name in those areas, but PC does.

I have no interest of being bias. My post was meant to show that MS is clearly improving but sony have always been legitimate when it comes to making games or publishing games. That they can be persevered as slacking but still put out more games. I omitted things like No Mans Sky because on pc Hello Games will just publish that on Steam themselves.

With MS we all have to realise that, that is all MS publishing on pc its exclusive to there store. I don't think you can even buy physical copies of those games for pc. The post is not specific about xboxone console but MS.

I read it, and it's bullshit. He thinks adding release dates to games makes them better. Also he thinks that Xbox lineup is higher quality. I disagree with both of those idiotic claims. I see Sony lineup being more interesting.

I will get Forza though. It's the only interesting title they have imo, and i'm not even a huge racing game fan.

The thing that's always bothered me about MS's approach to exclusives is that they seem to judge the success of each exclusive on its own rather than taking a broader perspective and considering the good lots of them do for their platform as a whole. What I mean by that is if you're an exclusive on Xbox and you average maybe 8s for reviews and sell say 800,000 - 1,000,000 copies MS will consider you a failure and it's very unlikely you are contacted for a sequel or another project. Unless you achieve crazy success, like 3 million sold, MS pulls the plug on you. They want megahits and nothing else. With expectations that high it's pretty hard to have a lot of exclusive franchises. It's even harder for the ones you do have to vary much in genre/theme/content, etc. I like Sony's approach better. They have lots of exclusive games that achieve moderate success. Although each individual one might not be setting the world on fire collectively they strengthen the appeal of the platform. Look, an exclusive that is critically praised (And yes, averaging 80 at Metacritic counts as a favorable nod from critics imo) but doesn't sell much still helps you. So long as it isn't losing money I don't see what the problem is. Although it might not have printed cash for you all on its own having a lot of them does cause you to sell more consoles. Ya get more street cred from having 20 exclusive games that sold 750,000 copies each than you do just 1 exclusive game that sold 5 million. I wish MS would realize that.

Good interview he's praising the Sony lineup while being confident of the XOne. I'm good with the releases on XOne, lot of great games coming and these don't necessarily get finished on release by me. I mean Dead Rising 4 is coming in December, so I could be busy playing it Jan -Feb....doesn't matter if that period is more quiet....end of year/holiday games often carry over to next year for me.

That last part is what I get from recent announcement to bridge the brand to PC. This is a great move for MS as a company, more $$, for sure. But it dilutes the already weakened Xbox brand, I feel.

Well PC don't belongs to Microsoft and Win 10 was free... They get profit from Xbox but not from my PC. There is difference of software and hardware. So no, i play all those games without needing MS platform
