Xbox = "Bad Box" in Japanese

X" in Japanese means "no, bad, don't want it, wrong". "X" in Japanese is pronounced "batsu". When you mark something you either mark it with a circle "O" pronounced "maru" to mean "yes, I'll take that, correct" or with an "X" for "no, bad, wrong, don't want it".

Theres no Japanese translation for Wii. In fact, there are no translations for the word Wii in any language. So while the Xbox name can be translated to Japanese, Wii cant be. And no, Childish is not a language.

hmmm, i always thought of X standing for a mysterious or unexplainable thing.

for example the x in x-men stands for the mutant gene. in x-files, x stands for the unexzplainable alien thngs. planet x is a designated name for a planet with no defined name yet

Yeah, also in FF games as well.

Not all of them, SqaureEnix do revert back to X for U.S/EU games. MGS though it stays the same.

ummm... i'm not going to argue with the fact X means 'bad' but take this into consideration...

super smash brother brawl is called "Dairantō Smash Brothers X" in Japan. so isnt that kind of the same thing.

(japanses writing (大乱闘 スマッシュ ブラザーズ X,Dairantō Sumasshu Burazāzu Ekkusu "Great Fray Smash Brothers X").)

Lmao, that's pretty funny. Yet some more ownage to Microsoft. They are really starting to surpass Sony. Names and brands are always very important. They should have done some more research before naming their console.

Concerning the Wii...Yes, it has a perverted connotation but like...Who says that word apart from little kids? The actual meaning behind it is rather clever I believe and is perfect for slogans like "Wii will rock you!" and "Wii will change everything...", don't you think? Apart from children, and immature people, everyone else should realise the actual meaning behind it. We say "we" constantly, don't we?

So how come FFX sold so well, especially considering it was the BAD one?

Anyway, I always found 360 to be funny, because after it breaks it comes full circle. For some people it comes full circle more than once.:( It's the new boomarang console.

x doesnt really mean bad. it means "not this one" its not that hard to consider. i can recall people conveying x's and o's in my childhood in a similar manner. you cross out the ones that dont apply and circle those that you want to highlight. . i seem to rember someone somewhere claiming that wii translates to "revolution against the gods" in old japanese.
