Complete bogus. Microsoft is developing a new console, that is for sure. However there is no way we'll see a reveal of it at this E3. EA even said the story was "a complete fabrication".
I doubt MS abandons Kinect so quick. 2013 at the earliest.JakeTD21
I hear ya, but the console probably will be out in 2012 if they show it off at this E3, maybe even late 2012, so that means over 2 years of kinect. Isn't it rumored that they are workign on next gen kinect type stuff?
I've a feeling though that developers would have a rough idea of the capabilities to plan accordingly, that way whenever a new console is announced they've some games to show with it, after all you need game footage you can't just pump people up on a name alone.

woa hold on, kinect is a USB device and it runs at half the capability on the 360. Abandoning it is unlikely, if anything it will work on the next console too and at double the resolution it currently runs at.

EA didn't say they were expecting it in 2013, that was a "trusted source" who told news sites that they didn't expect it until at least 2013. And really, if you look at it, Microsoft in no way needs to release a new console soon. Heck, their gaming division was one of the big reasons they were so profitable last quarter. And even so, Nintendo probably won't release until mid-late 2012, and Microsoft wouldn't be that far behind really.
