Hmmm a MS employee telling us how their product is better for us? Who would have guessed?
I think none of you will be bitching once all games on X1 are as cheap as 39.99 while PS4 games are up to $70.[QUOTE="menes777"][QUOTE="percech"]

I think none of you will be bitching once all games on X1 are as cheap as 39.99 while PS4 games are up to $70. Really dude? lol. In order for Xbone game prices to drop, there needs to be competition, and there is none. No company will just out of the kindness of their heart say "hey, we are making a lot of money because of DRM. Maybe we should give our fans a break and drop game prices and make less of a profit!" Games will continue to be 60-70 USD because you dont have any other choice but to pay that price if you wanna play games.[QUOTE="menes777"][QUOTE="percech"]

Plus there is no incentive for MS to drop prices. Only that a hypothesis (not even a theory) as to why could drop prices. Not that they actually are or that there is plans to drop the prices of games. Only that it's possible because that's what allows Steam to have cheaper games.
Last time I'm responding to you because your posts adds nothing of value to this place. They're barely considered as replies...they barely pass the TOS. You are about as transparent as Sony's vision of the future of games. He's a loser and so are you.

Some people might not remember but Gabe Newell came out and said that the price of games were too high. He said that when they did the first 50% of weekend for L4D that sales shot up dramatically. From then on the steam sales were on and they proved that good ole Gabe was right. When you offer games cheaper that people will buy them. So it has less to do with competition and more with just Steam's business policy in general. Although competition still does play a role.

hey lets use reason on the internet!

now i didn't watch that so i have no clue what he is saying but if that shyt is logical or reasoned or just bullshyt it makes no difference.
because internet.
[QUOTE="clyde46"][QUOTE="percech"] What is Steam's competition exactly? They drop prices all the time.percechAmazon, GMG, GoG, origin, Uplay etc. Amazon is just a retailer. When you buy a digital game from them, depending on the company...it requires you to use it through Steam or Origin. The rest are not considered competition...hell, even Origin is barely competition for Steam.
As shown in my post it has less to do with competition and more to do with Gabe's business strategy. Which in a way destroys that unknowns engineers hypothesis about why Steam games are so cheap sometimes.

Why? because my threads come with infallible logic? I know it's not the norm over here for being logical and level-headed, but I'm fine with being the only one.Amazon, GMG, GoG, origin, Uplay etc.[QUOTE="clyde46"][QUOTE="percech"] What is Steam's competition exactly? I remember one game that got sales over 3000% more than when it was on for normal price, can't remember which game though.[QUOTE="Vatusus"][QUOTE="NEWMAHAY"]holy shit when did perech become such a terrible posterpercech

"although competition still plays a role." It plays a huge role, especially with MS and their desperate need to push the X1.[QUOTE="DerekLoffin"][QUOTE="percech"] Amazon is just a retailer. Steam may be both a DRM scheme and a store, but we're talking the store part here. Doesn't matter if steam acts as the DRM scheme, that doesn't affect the price the user bought the game at. In the grand scheme of things, it actually does. Your anecdotal response is less credible than a professional's.
It's competition anytime that it takes revenue from you. People spending money on Amazon means less money spent on Steam. It's a pretty easy business principle to understand.
That was a good read. I'm will to take a chance on the XB1 this generation to see if any of his claimed price drops happen. Also I like the idea of not having to use disc's. Living in the country I am about 35 minute drive on the expressway from a big town that has a gamestop or walmart ect., so with gas $4.15 a gallon I have no problem with day one downloads. Because by the time I get there and back I've paid $70+ dollars for a disc copy.
Whats the worst that is going to happen? My Xb1 collecting dust like my PS3 did all this generation, that cost me just as much an Xb1 will.

"although competition still plays a role." It plays a huge role, especially with MS and their desperate need to push the X1.Well there is no argument that MS desperately wants (and needs) to push to X1 but it has nothing to do with Valve's business model. Which has it's low prices not to undercut it's competitors, but to attract sales. Gabe has realized that alot of sells at low prices is better than a few sells at a higher price.
I can play my single player games in offline mode without connecting to the internet. As of right now, that is something that I would not be able to with an XBox One...The only diff is steam you have to sign in before playing, and Xbox does it automatically at night for you (once per 24 hours)
