Banjo Kazooie , Conker, perfect dark, kameo, viva piñata etc can only be found on Xbox of the modern systems

Conker is hilarious. Kameo is creative and solid. Viva piñata is a treat for the eyes. Nuts and bolts was creative

Perfect dark was FPS queen to halo FPS king.

Sea of thieves is one of the best games this gen.

Nintendo is probably very upset that they let rare and their backlog of phenomenal ips get away.

Microsoft has Killer Instinct for instance.

Nintendo made some deal with Microsoft to get banjo in smash... maybe Microsoft can get dk64 on Xbox.

Regardless Xbox’s trump card aside from power and value is Rare!

@landcrab: Not really trolling. I've been hearing from most that their games have been sub-par since Microsoft acquired them. If you enjoy them regularly... you'd honestly be the first, I've heard as calling them a top tier dev since probably the N64 days.

Rare has fallen from grace since the Microsoft acquisition. They were once revered as one of the best dev's out there and now they've faded into obscurity.

Microsoft doesn't really bring out their best these days, but hey let's talk about all the N64 titles they made and the other Xbox titles from gens prior.

I believe they lost a lot of their talent. It's not the Rare we remember... For example, their next game is Battletoads. Definitely not the best looking game, but i'm waiting to see how it does.

The first two Banjo-Kazooie games are actually among my favorite 3D platformers, so I won't object to those; it's just those games came out a long ass time ago. The majority of the games you list, even the Xbox ones, came out a long time ago.

Rare really does not have the status of a household name anymore. Even if they're still making games, it's hardly an advantage over Sony or Nintendo.

TC’s questionable status aside I still very much enjoy most of what Rare puts out these days myself. Found Kameo, Nuts & Bolts, and VIva Piñata to be really good games. Rare Replay was a great collection. Sea of Thieves started out barebones but has turned into a very solid game. Everwild looks quite intriguing. They also have some great IPs that can be worked on by other devs. Killer Instinct on the Xbox One is an excellent game and definitely deserves a sequel.

OP must be a fakeboy. Rare "WAS" a force to be reckoned with, now their much lower on the "bragging" scale, and See of Thieves is a testament to this.

Everwild looks like an indie game in high res to me and we still haven't the slightest clue what kind of game it is. Seems to be another MS game that might be ready in 3/4 years time.

All the people who made those great Rare games are called Playtonic Games.

They made Yooka-Laylee (Banjo-style collectathon 3d platformer) and The Impossible Lair (DKC-style 2d platformer).

Perfect Dark Zero was actually really bad. I'm not sure what rare was thinking.

Microsoft has a distinct advantage in that they are a software company, not a hardware company. Although they make hardware like Xbox and Surface, their money comes from software, so they can have their 'exclusives' be not just on Xbox, but PCs (running Windows!), the cloud, and in competing systems like Nintendo and Sony. Even on a Switch you can run Minecraft and you will log into Xbox Live, where they stay winning.

Sony and Nintendo, although they have dabbed in it recently (Horizon and Wonderful 101), can't do it as easily because if people buy other systems, they are hurt by it. Microsoft is not.
