Xbox HDD Design > PS3 Design

On the 360 you just click and clack and your done.

On the PS3 its a whole new Sku.

COWs will spin that you can add any HDD to your PS3. I am sorry but I don't see the vast majority of the public messing with another HDD, plus it will void their warranty.

For future reference, no one should post about how X360s deisgn is better than everyone elses.....not after they announced 1.2 billion in costs to fix their broken design.

It does not void your warranty. The instruction booklet even tells you how to change it safely.

As already said you can replace it with any HDD you want. It doesn't void your warranty. There are instructions in the manual. If you know how to unscrew 1 screw you can change the HDD. You get to buy the HDD at proper prices rather than a complete MS rip off. You can back up your data on an external HDD or FlashDrive. You don't need a special cable or permission from MS to do so.

I didn't know this. Where can I find diferent types of hard drives for the PS3? can you give me some sites.

The PS3 will take any 2.5" SATA (or "Serial ATA") HDD. I don't think there's any size restrictions.

Their "broken design" is kicking the snot out of everything sony at every turn right now... Just about every developer has noted that the 360 is lightyears easier to develop for and has translated to better produced games... Think before you mumble... The 360's design is much better than the ps3 matter of fact their not even on the same planet....

He was talking about hardware issues. To refresh your memory. MS releases console. Many consoles break. Peter Moore: Things break. Bla Blah A vocal minority. Extend warranty 90 Days -> 1 Year. Extend warranty 1 year -> 2 years. Extend warranty 2 years -> 3 years. Still don't fix the core problem.

Sure the 360 is easier to develop for because the tools they started out with were better on the 360. This has changed since the EDGE tools.

Imagine that. A software giant providing better software tools. A hardware giant with more reliable hardware. Strange world we live in.

i tc i have a 160gb hdd for 70 bucks

and it was so easy to install just click clack the bottum and unscrew the screw pop it in and you are done and i still have my warranty

Here's a thought..... if you can change the HDD in a PS3 anyway then what's the point of the new 80Gb SKU? If you want 80 gig of data you can buy a 60Gb one and shove in an 80Gb HDD for less than what a full 80Gb PS3 would cost.covhunter

Idon't think you're quite getting it. Let's imagine the UK model gets a £100 drop as well, why spend the extra £100 when you can get a 500Gb HDD to put in a 60Gb PS3 for roughly £60, saving £40 while getting a massive 420Gb extra. If you really must get motorstorm with it (lord knows why you'd want a half finished racer) then that would probably cost you about £40. Hey presto for the same price as an 80Gb SKU you've got exactly the same deal with 500Gb instead.

You're going to have to show me ample evidence PSN is plagued by cheaters because of an industry standard hard drive.

I have over 85 game saves, 15 live arcade games, downloadable content maps and such, and quite a few shows and only used about 7 gigs.

Oblivion alone takes over 1 gig on the ps3 just to play the game. See the difference?

The only thing MS is kicking is their own a**. Before you put your foot in your mouth again I suggest you look at all the HARDWARE DESIGN FLAWS X360 has been having......and incase you think it's not a problem MS begs to differ seeing as how they are spending over a billion dollars just to fix ONE of the many issues with the X360.

No one was talking about how easy it is to design a game on the X360, the discussion was on the hardware itself. My point was no one should talk smack about hardware designs if their company initals begin with M and ends with $.
