Can someone tell me how I will be affected if I'm playing from a country that is not supported by both XBL and PSN. Like what exactly I can do and can not do.. will I be able to play online, can I connect to these networks in the first place, will I be able to download demos/games......etc. I guess it would be a loss if I bought any console and would not be able to connect online with it.

u can ONLY play online. u CANNOT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING. when u try to access the psn and xbl they will tell u ur country is not supported. but u can always create a north american account which will let u access psn and xbla and everything else.

On the Psn you can register an account to say a hotel adress in the States or Uk and tat would allow you to download free items and dpeding on your type of credit card the paid items aswell (Athlough you could order in a PSN card which would definatly work).

Can I ask where you live as Sony and Microsoft are always expanding the availabiiy and might be coming to you soon (As far as im aware Sony are expanding to Ukraine n the next few weeks)

I live in Jordan. As far as I know there are no plans in the (near or distant) future to support Jordan, well.. PSN might do this as there are already some countries in Gulf and Levant areas supported.

You can always make a EU account and get the EU PSN cards if the Virign Megastore sells them there. :P

But yeah,it's pretty limited. It's annoying really,Last.fm won't work,if your an avid user that is.

Middle east then.....Well Live is available in 26 countries (I have a friend where I live origonaly from Jordan l'l ask him next time hes on Facebook about using an x-box there), None of which are in the Middle east. I've also never had live on my X-box because I won't pay for live so your going to need someone else to tell yu what would be available.

PSN is available in 57 contries some of them in the Middle East, Lebanon (Which AFAIK hs a border with Jordan), Quatar, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia (I know that doesn't help you immediatly but I'd quess it' more likely they will be the first of the two to release an online service for Jordan). If you decide on a PS3 and I was you I'd sign up for either a Lebonesse or Uk account and Just order in the PSN cards (Whats the avalabilty of delivery there?), the only problem with that is I don't know about the quality of the lebonesse store but im assuming it gets far less than the Uk store due to regionaisation and alot of classic games not supporting Arabic text symbols.

Edit: I aso expect he companies to annouce the online services comming to new countres at E3...... I'm basically guarenting Microsoft announce a polish service, and I'm sure both will annouce a few new countres that no-ones expecting.
